JS10 for Spark A 5v logic on TC4427 chip?

Post by jesse408 »

I have an MS2 v3. I have a perfectly good working waste spark setup using LS coils. I built the 5v logic circiit for the coils in the proto area utilizing two TC4427 chips. Currently, the circuit is built using D14 as Spark A.
Tuner Studio gives us the choice of using JS10 or D14 for Spark A in the drop down menu.
Is it safe for me to use JS10 instead of D14 in this 5v logic circuit?

You need to select d14 if you want more than one spark output.

I disagree - the MS2 allows you to select JS10 as Spark A for a multi-spark installation. If you aren't using JS10 for a specified input (Cam, Launch,or Nitrous), you can use it for Spark A, and use D14 for an output that JS10 doesn't have - boost control or a prog out.

(MS3 is unclear as to whether it allows JS10 vs D14 when using the LEDs, both in the manual and in TS.)

Did you check this on the bench or check the firmware to see if it actually works?

I have not. Both manual and TS settings would suggest that it is possible; TS allows the setting of a 8-cyl wasted spark using JS10 as Spark A without complaint. Certainly the comment in TS that D14 is the "preferred" Spark A output strongly suggests that JS10 is POSSIBLE. If JS10 is only used with single-spark installations, perhaps this should be more clearly indicated.

(Actually, TS allows JS10 to be set as Spark A in a Dual Wheel arrangement without complaint. This doesn't work ...)
