Jimstim V1.5 D4 BLOWN....nearest Zener?

Post by efims »

D4 blown leading to low voltage(leading to drop in RPM).

I do not have replacement 1N4729 (as recommended) in

http://jbperf.com/JimStim/JimStim_v1_5_assembly.html

I have some :-

A) 1N4742
B) 1N4748
C) 1N4749
D) 1N4148

Which is the nearest without compromising performance and protection of the Jimstim?

Thanks in advance.

None of them are of any use since they have a Zener voltage of 12V and more while you want a 3.6V one. Simply leave it off until you can replace it with the correct part. You'll just need to be more careful not to short anything.

You may have better luck if you search for a "3.6V, 1W Zener diode". That's all a IN4729 is -- nothing particularly exotic.

Depending on where you live, you might find a Radio Shack or Fry's that has them in stock. These days, I get most of my small parts online, from eBay or Amazon.com.
