PCB layout??
Hello everyone,
I am trying to find the Megasquirt PCB v2.2 layout in some vector or CAD format like Gerber, Sprint Layout or anything different from PDF or a plain picture, could anyone help?
My idea is to make the PCB and source the elements myself, should be way way cheaper that ordering a kit from the official suppliers. Alternatively where can I buy only the original PCB?
Thanks.

Re: PCB layout??
Megasquirt is commercial! The whole point is that you BUY the ECU whether in kit form or complete.
So, no, do not attempt to make a counterfeit PCB.

My whole point is to build the exact same thing at a normal price and why not since all the schematics, software, etc. is available for free...

Re: PCB layout??
These are available to help in diagnosing problems and/or in modifying things to better fit your purposes (once you've purchased the basic unit). It is not to help you steal from the developers. Look at the licensing agreement. This is not an open source project.roshljo wrote:My whole point is to build the exact same thing at a normal price and why not since all the schematics, software, etc. is available for free...
If you want an open source ECU (in the sense of free stuff), you're not at the right place and you need to look at something other than Megasquirt.

Grow a pair and say it in a language we'll understand. In the mean time stop stealing.
Megasquirt is not for use on pollution controlled vehicles. Any advice I give is for off road use only.

Not sure of the exact translation of that Bulgarian text, but it appears to be abusive.
For me and many others, developing and supporting Megasquirt is our job. So when people counterfeit it, they are effectively taking away some of our income.
So, counterfeiters can go to hell. "евтин чекиджия" perhaps.

I spent an entire career dealing with thieves. One of the things I learned was, a thief is a thief, in any language!

Re: PCB layout??
Especially a V2.2 board...
I'll have to read through the licensing, but as a serious question, If I were to make my own board for my own use, is that allowed? Think making a custom main board to fit a certain case, but the MS2 or 3 daughter card plugs into it. I'm not likely going to do this at any point soon, but it could be a serious consideration for a vehicle or two of mine. If there was demand for a product like that (unlikely) I would obviously go through proper licensing to sell them...
For a little more perspective, I already have several V3.0 main boards, and one DIYpnp, so it's not like I don't support existing products. ;)

Re: PCB layout??
Fairly sure you are fine to design your own board etc provided you use one of the "module" formats. Microsquirt or MS3pro modules.
Find the Manuals up top under Quick links: Manuals.

Re: PCB layout??
I believe the licensing would require you to have a genuine B&G main board in the case somewhere - but it doesn't say the board needs to be built in the standard way, or even populated.Six_Shooter wrote:Especially a V2.2 board...

As others have noted, the modules are typically a better starting point.

Absolutely. That's what the modules are designed for.slow_hemi6 wrote:Fairly sure you are fine to design your own board etc provided you use one of the "module" formats. Microsquirt or MS3pro modules.
