Output for distributor

Post by DiabloBlanco »

I have a 1992 Suzuki Sidekick, 1.6l 16v, auto, K03 turbo. I am using the DIYPNP Nippon Denso 76 pin kit with sequential addon. I believe the distributor has hall effect guts for driving the injectors. The spark appears to be driving partially by the ecu. How should I connect my "igniter driver output"? It seems like the "honda distributor" method is correct.

After thinking and reading over it again, I soldered a wire from IGN1 to 1G

Where is 1G? You want to connect IGN1 to where the orange wire goes on the ignitor.

The spark is controlled entirely by the ECU, the igniter just takes the load off the ECU and moves it nearer the battery, which also has the side benefit of moving any possibly high energy noise outside of the ECU as well.

The igniter is an amplifier that takes a small signal and makes it larger. You connect the ignition output from an ECU to the trigger input of the igniter.

1G is the MS equivalent to "A4" in the factory ECU

Since my post I have tried to run the setup with out success.

I dont think I have my camshaft sensor setup correctly. I currently have the white wire "B3" going to the VR2. TunerStudio isnt seeing any rpm.

I ran the test in Tuner Studio and both the injectors and ignition are working. Still no tach signal. I have the 51K at R21 and a 1K at R4 and I as I mentioned previously the "white" wire from the distributor to the VR2 on the edge.

I'm still not getting a tach signal in TunerStudio. Checked the voltages at the plug for the distributor 5v, 12 and ground. I checked with the stock ecu and the ms, they are both the same.

Matt helped me get this squared away. I moved the signal wire to Opto+ and added a 1K resistor. After that I was getting no spark, the overboost protection was the culprit. During my troubleshooting the no spark situation I ran the ignition test and had a nasty little thump from the engine. The spark ignited some unburned fuel. The engine now has a miss but it will have to wait until tommorow.

Thanks for the help with this though! :yeah!:
