Subaru 6/7 to 36-2-2-2

Post by SubaruLegacy »

I am currently running the 6/7 crank wheel and I have some trouble starting my car when it gets below zero due to slow cranking. I want to switch it to the 36-2-2-2 wheel. Doea anyone know if I need to modify the board at all to do this?

Not necessarily. Both wheels used VR sensors on the crank. If using the cam wheel for sequential injection or coil on plug, on an MS2 where using an LM1815 for the cam trigger, you would need mods there. But any other circumstances (an MS2 with nothing sequential, a MicroSquirt, or almost anything in the MS3 family) you won't need board mods for the cam sensor either.

Matt, thanks for your response. I am currently doing semi sequential since I only have two drivers for the injectors. I had to add a conditioner circuit for my cam sensor to use with 6/7 since it requires cam and crank to create a usable trigger. Is this the mod you are referring too?

If you are using semi sequential and wasted spark, the MS2 does not need a cam sensor input for 36-2-2-2 mode.
