Have I ruined this??

Post by motorgnome »

This is what happens when I cannot see & still try to fix things.. I have broken off 3 pins on the MS2 daughter card. I cannot repair one pin. Is this needed or do I need to buy another card.

Cheers, Jason

You'll find a schematic for the daughter card in the manual. That will tell you which each pin does. All pins are used - but you may be lucky and the broken one is for something you don't need.

It is possible to replace the DIL 40 connector, but does require the necessary skills and equipment.

It looks like the broken one is pin 2, which is one of 3 ground pins for the daughterboard.

Since there are two other ground pins, it's possible the board will work fine - it's worth a try! The most likely ill effect is that your analog signals would be a little more noisy.

A skilled technician might also be able to repair the board by installing a 3-pin section of header, which would be supported by the end pins. A wire could then be run from the middle pin to a ground point on the board.

I have repaired a number of MS2 daughter boards with that very problem...... Be happy to fix yours if you would like.

Thanks guys for your responses. I am so cranky with myself, as this all happened because I was careless, nothing of a technical nature. Urggghhh.
