u3 orination

hello new to ms3 working on my board installing u3 chip there is no dot or notch on it. the top of the chip has a step down side on it which direction does this go in relation to the board, thanks for your time

yes the dot is not so visial but it clearly has the same step or line down one side i placed it in the board with the step or line towards the 40 pin base. i believe this to be correct. thanks for quick reply

in this position it puts the numbering id faceing the same as the other chips on the board hope this is correct!

Notwithstanding any other markings, the 'dot' denotes pin 1 and the chip must be installed that way!
