I see my latest MS2 3.0 kit comes with FDPF3860T FET's for the injector drivers Q1 and Q5.
Are these "avalanche rated" ? There is a note on the schematic that the active flyback clamp circuitry can be omitted if so.

Yes and its given as 278mj single pulse or 3.4mj repetitive. Whats that mean ? Is that enough ? You hurt your what ?

Seems like there are 2 questions here.
1. Is the FDPF3860T an equivalent replacement for the IRFIZ34?, Yes seems fine.
2. Is it a good idea to omit the Active Clamp components?, No I would not omit the clamp using either the original or this mosfet. What is to be gained by reducing protection to the mosfet?
