Attached jumper wire in wrong place, what did I fry?
I built my board (MS3X, 3.0 PCB, with clock and knock module mods) and its been in my car for the last month working well. The tach didn't work, so I pulled it out to verify everything was hooked up. I discovered I didn't have the S12C - JP9 jumper in place so I put it in. Went to start car to test and nothing. Took it back out, realized I had ACTUALLY attached S12C to the JP11 jumper.
Current symptoms - when I power up ECU, fuel pump doesn't prime, and I show no connection in Tuner Studio when connecting via USB.
Tested so far - I verified everything in the power supply schematic (12.6V at S12, one side of MOV1, D11, D10, ground on the others; 11.8 at S12C; one side of D12, C16, ground on other; 5V at the correct places after regulator).
I have a lot of training on circuit boards so I get the fundamentals, but I'm at bit lost on where to go next. What else can I test, and/or how can I tell if I fried the MS3 Daughterboard? I assume if its toast its a gonner since its surface mount, correct?

You likely fried the MS3 processor. JS11 was never meant to see 12V

Yeah, I found the schematics last night and saw it was connected to a raw cpu I/O pin (rated for much less than an amp) and figured that had to be it. I've already got another ordered. Still pissed I was so careless, though.
My other question is if it's possible I damaged anything else, particularly anything that could cause it to damage the next processor.

Ok, thanks. I figured but wanted to make sure. New ones on order, so I find out for sure next week.

The old board can likely be repaired for a lot less cost than a new one - so get that done and sell it, or keep as a spare.rotorhead87 wrote:Ok, thanks. I figured but wanted to make sure. New ones on order, so I find out for sure next week.

Yeah, I remember reading that. Who is the best person to go through for that? The post I saw was a couple years old.
Thanks!
Thanks!
