miata VVT motor crank and cam sensor questions

here it is . The car is a 97 miata that is already fitted with a MS3 and 3x and has been together for 2 years or so. I'm installing a 02 vvt engine with a flying miata 36-2 trigger wheel on the crank. the MSxtra manual says that it uses a vr sensor on cam and crank and it needs both for that decoder. it appears to have hall sensors . They are 3 wire and they both have 12v and ground and a signal wire. Is that a misprint in the manual about the sensors being vr type?
Basically I'm at the point where I need to wire my crank input and cam input to get a RPM signal to the MS3. Anyone out there done this swap?

k so I went ahead and just wired it up and I cant get an RPM signal using the miata 36-2 ignition decoder. I'm using JS10 as the cam input with the required board mod....I did not have the ms3x on this card in the beginning so that's the reason why its not using the 3x cam input . Heres a csv file and msq. Appears I'm missing the crank sensor. The airgap is at .020. The spec is >020 to .060" . I scoped it and it puts out a very nice square wave pattern. Could it be the pot needs adjusted? It ran perfect before with the 4g63 CAS ?

I can trigger the crank circuit just fine with a momentary touch to ground with a test light right at the connector for the crank sensor. What gives?

well it only took me 4 posts and :RTFM: to solve my problem. I broke the MS3 open and adjusted R56 until I got 2.5vdc at the top of R54 and I turned the key and it fired right up :yeah!: Go figure. I thought since it was already a great running setup on the CAS motor that it would be good to go. Wrong!! LOL
