I have just seen this note on installing a jumper wire from the c end of D1 on the X card to S12 on the main board if using the MS3x outputs for a idle valve or a VVT valve. Ive been using VVT for a while now without this lead. How crucial is this lead to have installed?

Early on one customer reported that a component on the MS3X board got so hot, it de-soldered when using VVT on his Miata. With the jumper wire in place that doesn't happen.
I've found that my idle valve has a wider duty cycle range (more controllable) with the jumper wire in place.

I went ahead and added it just to be on the safe side on my miata. I may add it to my 240 next time I have to open it.
