What is the appropriate gauge wire for MS3 grounds?

Post by Danbob »

Hello could somebody with experience let me know what is considered an appropriate gauge of wire for the megasquirt ground wires?

I am using the standard OEM Toyota ground wires, plus five additional 1mm^2 ground wires to the same point on the inlet manifold.

The ms will be powering 4 injectors, boost solenoid and pwm idle control valve.

Is 1mm^2 enough?

Our wiring harnesses typically use 20 AWG grounds; that works out to 0.5 mm^2.

Ok that's great news, so my 1mm^2 should be more than adequate then!

Thanks gives me some confidence!

The problem is more making a decent termination to the DB37 if the cable is too big.

I use 18AWG wires for ground (and most other circuits), 5 off the main db37 and 5 off the 3X db37. I then connect these to the back of the passenger head in most cases.
