Re: MSLogger available on Android Market
Dave,
Someone just pointed me toward a problem if you can look into it.
It seems if you run MSLogger, then exit, nothing else can connect. Shadow Logger and Blue term just kind of hang or fail on connect.
But if i go into a task manager and kill the MS Logger Connection Checker Service, all is good again.
I reproduced it using the MSLogger Connection Checker.

Re: MSLogger available on Android Market
Thanks for the heads up, I've just uploaded 3.51 to the Market. It uses a service so the full app can carry on logging reliably even if it is not the frontmost activity, but the Connection Checker wasn't properly killing the service when the test was over. It does now

Re: MSLogger available on Android Market
I was wondering if I could get some help with this bluetooth stuff for your logger? I'm having connection problems sometimes the Logger with quickly connect then disconnect, but most off the time nothing.

Also here is a pic of the settings in my LM048 adapter. I was able to get these settings to work just connecting to my laptop with bluetooth using the same adapter.
Thanks

Re: MSLogger available on Android Market
It should work as I use an LM048 myself, albeit with an old firmware. What position have you got the little grey switch in? Mine is set to Tx (which seems wrong, but it works) The config settings you posted look correct to me.

Re: MSLogger available on Android Market
Thanks for the reply, I have tried both positions. I think I have found my problem though I have a LM048SPA (looks the same) instead of the regular LM048. I guess mine does not swap TXD/RXD signals instead it swaps DTR/DSR whatever that means. It's a printer adapter so I bought the wrong bluetooth adapter.

Re: MSLogger available on Android Market
All is not lost. If your handy with a soldering iron it should be possible to make (or buy?) a small adapter to sort out the right connections.

Re: MSLogger available on Android Market
I was thinking about that, but the firmware is different from the standard LM048, but I found a page from LM technologies stating witch pins where looped together. I took the unit apart and looked at it pins 7&8 are soldered together. It said for the LM048 pins 4&6 or looped, on mine these go back to the switch.
Do you know more about these? Here is the document I found.

I'm itching to try this out and have downloaded the checker but having troubles connecting everything. I got a BT-232B-E and i'm trying to connect my htc desire with android 2.2 to but not having any luck. Can't even connect via blueterm. Has anyone tried this combination?

One of my beta testers successfully used that adapter and wrote up some notes about it here http://www.mslogger.co.uk/adapters.htmlGrahamA wrote:I'm itching to try this out and have downloaded the checker but having troubles connecting everything. I've tried copying those settings but i'm still having issues. The app flashes a message 'Starting connection' which is quicly replace with 'Unable to connect'scudderfish wrote: One of my beta testers successfully used that adapter and wrote up some notes about it here http://www.mslogger.co.uk/adapters.html
I've added the log file from the MSLogger directory on my phone from today. Any chance you can have a look and see if there's something i've missed?
Thanks

Have you changed the baud rate on the controller? If your running ms1 it needs to be 9600 and for ms2 it is 115200.GrahamA wrote:I'm itching to try this out and have downloaded the checker but having troubles connecting everything. Hmmm, you're log file contains the error "Unable to start Service Discovery". Hopefully without getting too technical, there is more than one way to make a BT connection. The official way is the phone asks the adapter "Do you have a serial port service?", the adapter responds and then the phone uses that info to make the actual connection. This is Service Discovery. However some phones don't do this properly (notably some HTC phones), and some BT dongles don't do it right either. There is an unofficial way which is where the phone skips the polite question and just grabs what it wants from the adapter. A very early beta version of MSLogger gave the user the choice of which method to use, but that seems to have got lost somewhere. I'll put it back in as a preference to see if it helps.

Dave

Re: MSLogger available on Android Market
That is definitely something worth bearing in mind, although I suspect Graham's issue is more fundamental.Nitrobanshee wrote:Have you changed the baud rate on the controller? Graham, email me at dave@mslogger.co.uk, and I'll send you a modified version of the Connection Checker which uses this alternate method. If it works for you, I'll upload it to the market.

Re: MSLogger available on Android Market
A quick update on my phone. With the alternative connection the app connects happily. Looks like it's an issue with the phone rather than anything else. I'm going to try flashing a new rom to my phone and see if that helps out.

Have a direct link to the apk?
My little free htc hero finally has cyanogenmod 7.1 on it, but as since I don't have an associated phone #, the market won't work AFAICT.
