Also the change log is at:

Cool
So I could do something like this? (currently using both MS3 and Traqmate data)

Phil do you need to uninstall the first one to install 1.02? I know in the market you dont but Installing it like this I was wandering.

Nope, it will write over it.

I'm thinking I will go to market sooner than planned as some people don't seem to be able to install non-market apps :(

I see where 1.02 "disconnects" from BT when I shut it down - but it's still difficult to connect to my firefly. I haven't found a repeatable method to get it connected - restarting the app, unplugging the BT adapter, eventually it will connect but I don't know why..

anyway, no problems otherwise. using MS3 pre-1.1 alpha 15, the firefly, and getting from 9 to 11 reads per second. range seems to be about 75 feet. If I want faster data, I can use the SD card and log at 200hz, but I can't see any display that way. :)

It sound like my firefly, but then at times it seems to get on a nice roll where it connects up well 5 times in a row 1st time. I come back later and it may take 6 connection attempt :(

This release has been doing pretty good though. Make sure there are no other BT apps hanging in the Background.

Phil,

I tried this today with my Moto Atrix. It sees my FireFly, connects, but then disconnects over and over a ton of times. Do I need to turn off my BT phone connection somehow to allow this to work? My Phone connects to my radio for incoming calls. I was not on a call at the time, it just cycled through connecting, disconnecting over and over again.

MS3 1.1 Alpha 10

The 2 logs I collected are attached. (edit - deleted attachment)

Phil,

Also, I get 'insufficient access rights' on the web page when I tried to upload these logs just to see what was in them. I set up my account and got the password and logged in. They were uploaded from the phone.

one quibble, Could there be landscape mode in the works? My phone is in a dock and is usually landscape oriented b/c the 'car dock' basic page is landscape.

Keith,
I can't say for sure. I know that I have seen some other bluetooth applications running in the background cause disruption and disconnects, but I have not tried with it while the bluetooth was connected to a phone. I would expect that to possible slow throughput, but not cause disconnects as it is talking to another device. I would be interested to know.

A landscape mode is coming, with real gauges.

One more post (jeez, I just keep flooding the forum!)

I wanted some clarification on the "Class 1 RS232 Bluetooth" adapter. As you know, I built my blue smirf http://www.sparkfun.com/products/158 into my MS3 box a while back. I am guessing this is a RN-41 or 42 based device. Is this true? How is it different than this one from SparkFun? http://www.sparkfun.com/products/8495 or http://www.rovingnetworks.com/files/res ... 240-DS.pdf

My guess is that the power for the device comes through the DB9 on the appropriate pin on the one you sell so that there is no confusion for the average user. How close am I?

I was thinking it was based on the same chip, but I don't know for sure. It doesn't seem to say.

Either way it should work... Most of the BT Adapters I have tried do, but they vary in how easy... Their characteristics vary in connection speed, throughput and configuration needed.

The FireFly is quite easy to setup, it is basically ready to go with the default settings and has a dip switch to flip from 115200 to 9600 baud. The only complaint I have had with it is that it seems to take many attempts to establish a connection from my Android devices for some reason. Once connected it is fine and has good throughput, and sometimes it connects right off, other times it seems to take 6 attempts. From windows it connects well though.

The GBS 301 connects from my tablet, but my phone just can't seem to connect to it. I can connect from windows. But the throughput on the GBS 301 is not good.

The one on my site is powered from pin 9 of the DB9, there is also a power cord. I also configure them so they get the best throughput. I'm working on a utility app to change the baud, or reconfigure them back to the way I ship them if something gets message up.

I like the internal setup like you have, except internal usually hurts range, but i see that has an antenna. Are you running the antenna out side the MS?

I know you have been using that with TS, so it must be configured right if it works from a PC.

Can you talk to it from Blue Term?

I have an antenna outside the box. Very clean, imo.

What do I send in blueterm to know that it connects?

Type an upper case Q and you should get the signature, upper case S for firmware version info.

I have one that looks identical to the one you have on the site (probably *isn't* identical because I've never been able to connect to MS3, only MS2). Bought it on some chinese site. It's a near identical copy of the LM058 (I have one of those as well) and it uses similar firmware. I can even configure the chinese copy with the configuration software for the LM048/LM058! The AT commands are identical (even the manual is a near copy) and it reports the same firmware (albeit a newer verson).
Maybe you could try if this config tool works with your type of adapter as well. The LM048 config tool works on firmware v4.19 and v4.22. The LM148 config tool works on higher firmwares. (download here)
FWIW

Gonna try upgrading the firmware on both adapters to v4.54 (received it from LMTech).

That works fine. It responds appropriately.

Shadow logger shows the Signature and Firmware correctly. It just continues with read failures.

(edit) It does not seem to matter if the phone is BT connected to the hands free function of the radio. Shadow logger just repeats the error over and over. Do I need to be on a later version or earlier version of MS3?

I am running MS3 1.1 alpha 10.

Keith,
I just put version 1.04 out for download, there have been some comms changes, so it may work.
if not, there is now a menu Option to capture a Comm Debug log. Turn that on while it is trying to connect, when you turn it off it will prompt you to email it to me.

Phil,

I grabbed it and get the same response. It did not prompt for me to send the log, but it is attached here.

It just cycles over and over: Connect, disconnect, reconnect.

The last message in the data log is:

P.S. On another note, Dave sent me a new version of his MSLogger and it connects right away and collects data. You may want to chat with him on how he is negotiating the serial connection...

Try telling it to stop reads, then start reads while it is connected.
I would like to see a comm debug log with the successful initial handshake. All that has is timeouts after things appear to have failed..

Do you have email setup on the phone? I'm curious why you wouldn't get an email prompt?

Looking through that log, it appears to simply be exceeding the timeout on the reads.
But the initial read for the och size appears to have worked fine, that is done with a longer timeout.

So I'm betting all it needs is a longer timeout.

I can email you a version with a longer timeout to try.

I'm curious what sort of data rate you are getting? In TS too?

Phil,

I downloaded the latest version and it worked with both delay values set to 0.

I tried all delays up to 400 and got the same behavior as before. Dunno what you did, but so version works just fine.
