One issue I'm having (other than artifacts when I rotate)
When the background doesn't clean up the old dash, does it clean up a split second later on it's own or do you need to swipe?
I have had this issue during development, but it is not happening on any my devices.
What version Android are you running?
I can select the gauge and change it but it doesn't always change on the display and it never saves any of the changes. Is it suppose to?
It is supposed to on the 1st 3 dashboards. Dash number 4 is always generated from the ini file at this point, so it doesn't remember.
and very easy on the battery.
That is good. earlier I had the 1st screen a hybrid between a gauge cluster and TextViews for displaying information, but after weeks of optimizing the gauge painting, I reached a point where it used less CPU to paint the Gauges clusters than basic TextViews, so I enhanced the gauge cluster some more to support the gaps to get rid of the standard widgets.
Do you have any additional phone-scale dashes setup to try?
There is no load dash dialog yet. You need to edit the .dash files in the project folders.
None of the dashboards in the installer are really catering toward small resolution screens yet either.
Something I was also considering is to have it load some different default dashboards if resolution is under say 800x600. It will scale the dashboards down now, but it isn't easy to read them.
I'm thinking on lower resolution screens there should be at least 1 page that has a more basic display with fewer and larger gauges.

rv0arm, let me know if 0.99.5 fixes your artifact cleanup issue.

I just got my bluetooth/Rs232 adapter from Phil.

Seems to be working just fine on the bench. Certainly better than the IOGEAR that I bought.

Will it be possible to load custom dashboards at some point? I realize you can change gauge outputs but I would like to make a full digital dash that matches my TS version.

-edit. Nevermind. I just finished reading the thread.

Yep, like the other thread says, you can change them now, it just isn't quite UI driven.
I intend to put in several sources for downloading new dashboards, from your account on shadowtuner.com or publicly shared.

But right now you can do it by replacing the .dash files on your phone in the project for your firmware.

To do that you will need to replace any of the files:
/Shadow Dash MS/[FirmwareFamily]/dashboard/dashboard_0_landscape.dash
/Shadow Dash MS/[FirmwareFamily]/dashboard/dashboard_0_portrait.dash
/Shadow Dash MS/[FirmwareFamily]/dashboard/dashboard_1_landscape.dash
/Shadow Dash MS/[FirmwareFamily]/dashboard/dashboard_1_portrait.dash

Love it so far, great work Phil!

One question, is it possible to derive MPG from using GPS speed? I do not have a VSS so I've had to create a MPG gauge for each gear. Thanks.

I'm currently looking at building a carputer using a Raspberry Pi and a 7" LCD screen, would Shadow Dash be able to run on Raspbian (Debian for RPi) or would it require a custom port?

That depends on what OS you are looking to run. If you were going to run Android on it, you should be all set. If you are going to run Linux on it, then consider TunerStudio the port, considering Shadow Dash is a port of TunerStudio components to Android.

then next release of TunerStudio is actually going to have numerous performance improvements, primarily with project loads as there were a number of optimizations needed to for the slower phone processors.

However I would also say that while it is cool that you can run this stuff on a $35 raspberry pi, there are better options. The raspberry pi has a processor from the same family as the 1st generation iPhones and 256 MB ram (getting 512), so you will most likely have a lot more computing power in the phone your pocket.

Excuse my ignorance about programming, but would it be possible to get laptimes showing there too? Would it be possible to pic those times from different program running background like Racechrono?

This would make perfect dash for my trackcar :)

Hi, thank you for the app, i have tested other dashboard apps in my MS3 and no one works fine like this one. I am running the app in a galaxy i9003L, with gingerbread 2.3.6

Until now works great, it crashes if i open many other apps and the phone ran out of memory. But the most important problem is, some cases, after i close the app the phone no longer goes to sleep (do not autolock the keyboard or similar, i can lock it manually, but i unlock it and it doesnt locks automatically anymore).

Excuse my english and thank you for the app.

Not sure if they have a way to get it from their app, but could always include it in..

Is the doupletap on the screen still supposed to put a "mark" in the log like Shadowlogger (IIRC I tried it to no avail)
Might be useful as an interim manual lap timer.

Do you have "Prevent Sleep Mode" turned on in Preferences?
It looks as though it is not releasing the wake lock unless you exited the app with the back button, that could cause such a problem. It should be releasing it when ever the app leave the foreground.

It should, but does indeed seem to be broken.
I'll put out another patch release for both of these.

Got it working on the bench with minimal fuss on a "borrowed" Lenovo tablet. I do have to say "hud mode" is a simple yet excellent feature!
