There are several gauges stacked and it looks like the red squares are from a gauges underneath that are assigned to invalid OutputChannels. Perhaps ones from your custom.ini?

I do see the white bar in Shadow Dash on those 4 gauges where it is transparent in TS... That I will need to fix following the rule that SD should render identical to TS.

There is a beta out right now that has been out for a spell. It supports USB, Event based Logging and the alpha firmwares.
An newer beta with more features will be coming shortly, then to release status.

HI Phil,

I have seen that there is a new TS version out and also installed 1.18 SDMS. For the latest TS release there is a section that fonts will be stored in the .dash file and can be read by SDMS. I tried but this feature still not works for me. I hope I am doing something wrong but the font types I used under TS still do not appear in SDMS.

Also I am glad to see that there is some development started with RS232 to WIFI adapters. Can you tell something about this? Will it be available for SDMS as well?

Thanks,

Zoltan

Yes, fonts stored to the dash files did make it in TS. That is the first step... they need to be there so they are available for SD to load. That will be quite shortly. I just need to get the last of the loose ends tied up on TS for the stable release.
WiFi and the font support will both be in the next 1 or 2 beta releases.

The WiFi driver is really a TCP/IP driver. Just need an IP Address and port.

I am hoping to be able to carry a RS232 to WiFi adapter, I have one that works well but we are still working through one issue with manufacturer.

I'm very interested in the TCP connectivity. I have an android car stereo that does not have bluetooth but does have wifi and I'd love to be able to display the Megasquirt dash info on it! It would be built right into the dash of the car so would truly be a "shadow" dash. Is this included in the current release?

I don't yet have a RS232 to wifi adapter, is there one that is recommended? What are the issues you are discussing with the manufacturer?

Thanks!

Tuner Studio has WiFi connectivity now. Any news on whether the will be an Android companion to that?

Yes, it is in Shadow Dash as well. there just isn't the place to set the IP and Port. That will be in the next release.

Very soon. The next beta that has WiFi on should be by Friday.
The beta needs to be promoted to stable as the MS2 3.3 stuff is getting promoted

Hi Phil,

I have a WIZ6000 Wifi to serial unit. Do I need to have special setting to have it work once Wifi capable Shadowdash is released?

I am really waiting to try the Wifi based version because I found BT very slow at re-connections so when I power cycle the MS3 it need some time to reconnect, which is not so good for a dashboard. I guess you have seen Wifi already in action, it is connecting faster?

Unfortunately I have problem with direct link USB OTG connection (comm. broken right when engine fires) what I could not solve until now (measurements show no noise etc.) so Wifi looks to be the way.

Thanks,

Zoltan

You can test it out with TunerStudio. That already has the WiFi drivers in it.
Connection is pretty quick. Data rates are better than bluetooth, the biggest trouble I have seen with WiFi is that many of the adapters have random pauses.

Hello,

i got the following problems:
1) Its not possible to use other fonts than the standard. When i save my Dash in TS with custom Font then transfer this Dash to SD, its again the standard Font
Edit: Okay after i rebootet the Tablet its working.

2) Wouldn't it be possible to hide the navigation bar?? In RealDash this is working.
I tried a "Immersive Mode" App which hides that bar. But SD got problems with this. There is just a black screen until i open the navigation bar. Its the same when i swap to different Dashboard. And the other thing is, that SD cuts the background image. The gauges are resized, but there is a black bar where the navigation bar used to be. In other apps its working with this immersive mode.

3) Any change for a better Dashboard Designer Mode? Its always very very difficult to get a dashboard with gauges in the right places.
for example on my laptop the maximum resolution is lower than on my HD tablet. So it just drives me crazy when i try to place the gauges right.

4) when i upload a new dash to the tablet and start SD, then there is only the first standard dash displayed. I have to restart the tablet in order to display the recently uploaded Dash

5) Are custom.ini from TS3 yet supported?

6) I made Status Indicators with custom ON and OFF image. When i transfer it to SD, then the indicators are invisible.

1) ok..

2) Is it not auto hiding after 5 seconds without touching the screen? Or are you just looking to make it never come out?

3) A dedicated dash designer has been on the todo list for quite a spell instead of using TS. The intent is for it to connect directly to the tablet force the same aspect ratio and upload/save the dash triggering an automatic reload. That will probably be available this summer.

4) You should need to restart the tablet, but might need to swipe the app shut.

5) The TS3 custom.ini files are the same with and are supported

6) Can you send / post the .dash file?

Are you using TS 2.6 to create the dash or TS 2.9? SD does not support all of the TS3 dashboard features yet.

2) No its not hiding, its still there.
It would be okay when its just would pop up for a few seconds, and then go to hiding mode.
But its always there.
Just to be clear: I mean the bottom navigation bar with the back, home and window buttons.
The top bar goes away after a few seconds.

to 6) I had a few Port-Status on the Indicators and Full/Half rpm-sync status. Is it possible that those are not supported? or should they be displayed?
And i was using TS2.9.
I will try it again with 2.6. If this isnt working i will upload a example dash with missing indicator ON/Off Images.

After a reboot of the tablet it looks to me like those buttons are there for around 0.x seconds. But then they are gone.

2) Ok, yes I thought you were talking about the top action bar. I haven't looked at making the nav bar go when it is there. I'm sure it is doable.

6) To be quite honest, using a TS 2.9 dash with SD 1.32 there will likely be many possible issues. There were not just additions made to TS, but changes to the structures.

Did a few more tests conerning point 6.

The problem only occurs when i set background&Text colour to transparent.
But this is what you do normally when you use a on/off image.

when there background and text have a colour, you can also see the picture in SD.
In TS its working like it should. (with transparent background etc)

now i will test it with old TS version

Update: The background doesn matter its just the font colour

That does sound like a bug... When painting the dash it is common to skip painting items if alpha is 0, it shouldn't skip the whole background.
