ShadowDash dashboard capability

Post by walterclark1 »

I recently created a "warning light" type of dashboard to use with my Android phone and ShadowDash using TunerStudio.

I used the "basic readout" type gauges to give me a number and set the Warning and Critical Gauge colors to come up yellow and red respectively when limits are exceeded. This seems to work as I intended in TS. When I uploaded the file to the Android and tried it, I am not seeing the background (the gauge color) change. Should that work as in TS? I attached a copy of the dashboard file I am using.

It should display the same as TS.
I'll have a look.

I looked into the issue and I got the same result . It turns out that the warning and critical color
changes where never implemented for the Basic Readout style gauge , but we will be fixing that and
hopefully get the fix in the next stable version .

GREAT! Thanks!

I will keep playing with my layout with that in mind.

Using an Android phone - even one as big as the Galaxy S4 really limits how much useful info a racer can be expected to see and absorb in a glance.

Here is how it was used last weekend:

The speedometer isnt connected in the car (I do have a transducer on the tranny output for the MS datalog) and I wanted to immediately see how I was doing out of some turns, plus I like to keep an eye on Lambda although the tune seems to have got that pretty much nailed now. I thought for next time it might be nice to add a tach for the camera since I dont currently integrate video and data (need a much faster PC to get that done) and maybe a Caution and Warning illumination behind some of the numbers to see how much it attracts my eye while driving. I already have shift and Lambda warning LEDs on the instrument cluster, but at some point I would like to replace the existing cluster with a tablet running Shadow Dash. The S4 is sort of my "proof of concept" device before I make the leap. To figure out what I need to keep hard wired and what can go on a tablet display.

Has this been addressed yet? I am running the latest beta on my new tablet and the dash I created uses the changing background color as a warning light on top of the basic digital readout. It all looks fine on TS when I demo it. I connected the tablet with this dashboard to the MS3 in the car (engine is out along with about half the sensors). Some of them that were reading 0 - like Oil Pressure - and high - like Lambda - should have gone red but didnt.

Are you running the beta? It should be addressed in that. That should be getting promoted shortly.

Back today.

I verified the SD version - 1.20

The MS3 is now on my bench with my JimStims connected so I can simulate many of the inputs.

I verified that the "basic readout" type gauge I am using in several places will not indicate any warning or critical levels via color changes on the android tablet. They will when demo'ed under TS on my desktop. The round analog gauges indicate high and lo warning and high critical but not low critical on the android tablet.
