Is USB connectivity supported via the use of a serial to USB adapter that's using the prolific chip?

Actually no, only FTDI cables.
I should add it would be a small effort. However I am usually discouraging the use of Prolific cables due to the BSOD bug they in their windows drivers. However they seem to have resolved those.

It's worth nothing to mention that their Android drivers quality is about the same as Windows (AKA, terrible )

It was also "amusing" that while the excellent quality FTDI drivers are essentially handed on a plate, Prolific on the other hand want you to sign several NDAs and sign over your mother, child and right testicle for the privilege of having their shonktastic driver.

If been trying this adapter with a Microsquirt today and I have to agree what a pos it is. Gunna bin it and drag a old laptop out that has a propper com port.

The real com port on the 15 year old laptop iv got works well with tuner studio for now
