I have SD 1.18 loaded on a Samsung Galaxy GT-18150T. This will connect OK with my MS3X through Bluetooth . I have purchased a Bluetooth Ext GPS from EFI Anylitical And paired it with the phone. Now it will not connect to the MS3X if the ext GPS is selected in the Preferences. It will connect to the ext GPS but not the MS3X.
If The ext GPS is deselected then it will connect to the MS3X but will sill show that it is attempting to connect to the ext GPS.
Have also found it a bit unstable during Exiting. It will lock up some times and I have to turn off the phone to clear it.
Any sugestions?

Re: Ext GPS on Shadow Dash
What version firmware are you running?
if 1.3, you do need the beta, otherwise I would roll back to 1.01 until the next beta comes out. There are a number of fixes in there related to connectivity in 1.18.
It should be out in a couple days. I will verify that connecting to the external GPS is working properly while connected to the MegaSquirt via BT.

Thanks, will give that a try, although I have tried the beta version and had trouble connecting to the MS3X with the engine running even without the ext GPS.

Re: Ext GPS on Shadow Dash
Tried again today. It would log on OK with or without engine running. All instruments seemed to be working OK except vehicle speed. It stayed on 0.
I logged a short run that seemed to show GPS info but I would say it was from the phone GPS, not the QST. I have attached the log.
Even though I have selected BT external GPS in the preferences, will it use the external GPS if you are communicating with the ECU via BT ?
When you connect to ECU via BT, you select the BT from the ones paired to the phone and that includes the GPS but you have to select the ECU.
The question is will the phone read both devices at once via BT?

Re: Ext GPS on Shadow Dash
I was actually suggesting that if you were on the beta using the stable 1.01 if you weren't using the 1.3 firmware. However, that was with beta 1.18. The current beta 1.19 should be connecting fine.
Doing as you said, selecting the BT GPS adapter in preferences, and selecting the ECU when you press connect is the proper procedure.
If it has trouble connecting to the BT GPS, it will fall back the phones GPS. This will also cause a slow down in data rate every 10 seconds or so when it tries to connect again.
I would try unpairing from the GPS and pairing again.
Yes, both devices over bluetooth at the same time isn't a problem.Even though I have selected BT external GPS in the preferences, will it use the external GPS if you are communicating with the ECU via BT ?

Re: Ext GPS on Shadow Dash
That sounds fine. Did you look at the log and did it look like it was the phone GPS? My QST showed it was communicating with the phone.
I uploaded the 1.19 but it still shows 1.18 on the screen.

Re: Ext GPS on Shadow Dash
The log shows the GPS running at 1Hz, so it most likely was your Phone's GPS, unless the QStarz was in 1Hz mode..
