Same in my case, the discharging notification appear but no sleep until FTDI is connected.

Ahh, you are in the same boat, separate power and using the USB for communication.

If you are seeing the Discharge notice, it should be doing the same, there may be a reason it won't fall to sleep when the USB is attached.

I don't actually have a tablet with separate power any more, the one I had died. I'll need to get one.

Hi Phil,

my tablet is a Galaxy TAb2 7.0 and has one main Samsung header. I have a special electronics which let the tablet charge while in OTG mode. It is similar to one where you have a power jacket and usb as well.

In case you have only one connector for USB than it mean when you remove power you loose connection as well, so you are right your setup behave differently.

As I said, I can imagine a solution that if the user set a mode than connection only enabled when in charge ON mode, otherwise disconnected by default.

I do not know in this case when you re init connection all the times charge arrive, how the connection (boot or connection times) will be affected.

Can you force to disable connection attempts while discharge? If yes than maybe you eliminate the event what not keep the system alive.

Thanks,

Zoltan

Phil, is there any way to get the last version? It worked a bit better for me. Google play doesn't let me revert :/

You can download old side load versions from here:

What sort of issues are you having?

I'm still trying to figure out a good way to make the action bar appear / disappear be less clunky

I just put up 1.31, that takes care of most of the issues. I am still working with BT though as I don't have a tablet here that can be powered while the usb is in use.
The logic should work the same with d2xx though...

Odd.... One somewhat big difference is now that the JRE's are bundled into TS and MLV the size of the download is much larger, giving bigger chance for an error.

Let me know if the sleep mode is working better with d2xx...

Hi,

the screen management is very nice. I like the non re-sizing gauges.

The sleep mode still has problems in my case. (Separated charge and FTDI)

1. Starting from offline, as soon as MS3 connected via USB, the app will start automatically, without charge applied. (I think this is the root of the issue somehow, that connection is not disabled while non charging.)

2. SD start but keep offline because there is no MS3 activity and no charge at all.

3. Ignition ON, charge as well. SD goes online, connect to MS3 after some hesitation (Tunerstudio start faster, if it help)

4. Ignition OFF, charge OFF. SD recognize that there is no charge, but right after indicates: connected to FTDixx however MS3 is OFF.

5. SD never goes to sleep.

I attached the appdebug may you can see the same sequence inside.

Also in case of USB connection can the BT disabled? Even if SD goes offline the BT remain ON until exit from SD so the BT module keep discharging the tablet while non charging and should be in sleep.

Phil, I do not know android but can you use force sleep, once in discharge?

Compared to my serial based small dash which is controlled by IGN and getting data from MS3 by using the A command, the tablet based dash need lot more time to go online and to go sleep.

Thanks,

Zoltan

Unfortunately, there is an API to do that, but you need to have system level permission to use it.

I wonder why the FTDI connection would prevent sleep.

What sort of tablet are you using with separate charge from the usb port?

HI Phil,

I use Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0. It has one port for charging and connection.

Once I connect the USB cable the connection to data source (MS3 FTDI) is detected and android also offer to select default program to be launched.

I can have system level rights if it is required - I can root the tablet. Let me know if i need to do.

Any solution is welcome now, the dash is fixed to the car but not sleeping.

Thanks,

Zoltan

Hi Phil,

to clarify: the tablet keep alive even without the adapter plugged in. I mean if I direct USB contact the MS3 to the tablet data port, it behave the same as far as sleep.
