Shadow dash and can egt standalone
Is shadow dash also going to support the can egt in standalone?

Re: Shadow dash and can egt standalone
It should already work in standalone.

Re: Shadow dash and can egt standalone
did not work for me
now the standard can egt from diyautune did not work with msdroid
i got the can egt serial from jean
http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewtopic ... 36&t=60454
which did work
after shadow dash created a project
i deleted the maincontroller ini
used the serial ini which i renamed mainController ini
but still no luck

Re: Shadow dash and can egt standalone
The only difference between the 2 ini files is that the "SERIAL" parameter is set rather than unset. I don't know how Shadow Dash handles that parameter and how it handles project properties. But either ini file should work as long as you can set the "SERIAL" parameter and SD can make use of it.

Re: Shadow dash and can egt standalone
I probably need to try this. SD wouldn't have any prepackaged dashboards and it wouldn't fall into a known firmware family, that could be causing an error.

Re: Shadow dash and can egt standalone
For SD you would have to edit the CAN ID in the msq... by Default SD always talks on CAN ID 0 and there is no UI setting to change it.

is this enabled in shadow dash as i don,t see any settings in the preference menu?

Re: Shadow dash and can egt standalone
I don't use SD but you could try to edit the ini file and change this line at the top of the file from:
to
That will tell SD (or it should) to use the serial port command instead of the CAN commands.
Jean
Code: Select all
#unset SERIAL ; This is to use the serial port
Code: Select all
#set SERIAL ; This is to use the serial port

Re: Shadow dash and can egt standalone
How do you do that if the ini does not have any specific CAN ID defined in there? The commands have an explicit value for the CAN IDs except for the 'S', 'Q' and 'A' commands which do not use a CAN ID. Also, the CAN EGT does not use the latest serial protocol but the old one without the header and CRC.LT401Vette wrote:LT401Vette wrote:For SD you would have to edit the CAN ID in the msq... by Default SD always talks on CAN ID 0 and there is no UI setting to change it.

Re: Shadow dash and can egt standalone
For searching for something, it always uses the single byte commands, then once online with an ini, it will use what is in the ini.
Even with SERIAL set, it would still be using CAN style commands for interrogation as there is no non-CAN commnds for that.
I can't say whether or not it would do the old style 2nd byte replacement. It should use the ini 2nd byte value as the default CAN ID same as TS.
It may just be failing when trying to classify the firmware family as I don't think there is a family set up for the IOx.
I can't say for sure, never tried it.

Re: Shadow dash and can egt standalone
i tried changing the can id
as the project properties show a main CAN id of 1
but changing it to 0 gives the shown error
changing it back to 1 again makes everything in working order again

Re: Shadow dash and can egt standalone
That won't work because you are only changing what TS is using not what the CAN-EGT understands. And you don't want to change the CAN ID to 0 on the CAN-EGT because that would create a conflict with your MS which does use this CAN ID.

Re: Shadow dash and can egt standalone
so the solution would be to fix shadow dash in such,s a way that it can talk to the CAN EGT in a standalone fashion?

Re: Shadow dash and can egt standalone
i guess the other option would be a rasberry 3 with tunerstudio and megalogviewer to log the can egt stand alone
and build a Can network with a microsquirt to add logging channels
and even a have way to view your log right away
