Shadowdash Connectivity Issues

Post by jimmyv65 »

I am working with Brian from Tunerstudio on this, but I am wondering if others have any issues with Shadow Dash and gettting connected.

I have issues where it doesn't always "find" the ECU. I sometimes get an error about invalid data. Sometimes I get no error and sometimes it works. I am using the bluetooth dongle and running MS3.

Shadow Dash is a great product, so I am not bashing here. Just trying to fine tune on my one issue.

If you have had similar issues and/or a solution, please share!

Same here, demo version worked fine. After registering it I get the error message about invalid data. It will connect for a second or two and then disconnect.
How long does demo version work?

After much experimenting this is my solution to the problem.

Reverted back to 1.32 and it works. The latest 1.5.02 does not work. When it asks for upgrade DO NOT upgrade to the latest version.

I am having the same issues, but trying to connect via USB OTG. I thought I'd chime in here since I haven't seen any more activity on the thread. I can't find the earlier version of Shadow Dash or I would have tried it.

I have an MSPNP Pro running firmware 1.4.1. 1999 Miata.

Thanks,

You can get an older version here:
https://www.efianalytics.com/TunerStudi ... dReleases/

I would be interested if there is any difference from the old one.

What happens? Does the table recognize that a the FTDI cable was plugged in and open Shadow Dash, or does the tablet not even see the cable get plugged in?
Is it an FTDI based cable like one of these:
https://www.efianalytics.com/register/v ... _MICRO_USB
or
https://www.efianalytics.com/register/v ... e=FTDI_USB

The 1st wouldn't require an OTG adapter, the 2nd has standard USB so would.

Phil,

I'm using this one since I connect via standard USB to my laptop when I'm tuning.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DY ... UTF8&psc=1

I've tried three different USB OTG adapters.

Shadow Dash opens automatically. However, sometimes Connect via USB is not a choice. If it is a choice, sometimes it will run for quite a while, but usually it just runs for a few seconds. I don't remember the message exactly, but it says something like "Unfortunately, Shadow Dash has stopped working..." I'll try to get full message.

Thanks much,

Phil,

I loaded 1.3.4 and it started right up and connected automatically. No issues. The car is in the garage on jack stands, so I did not let it run long. I shut it off and tried again. Seems to work just fine.

BTW, I have zero issues maintaining USB connectivity with the laptop/TunerStudio, which is why I thought the problem may be the OTG adapter(S).

We'll have to look into this.. The D2XX seems to be working fine for us in 1.5, but we had another user last week that was having issues with D2XX in 1.5, but not 1.3

MS2 3.4.2. Lately similar issues have come up with MS3 1.3.4 . Connection is lost after a few minutes. After a reset it will work again for a few minutes.

I've been have the same problems. At first I was thinking it was due to making a Amazon fire to work so I didn't think much of it until getting a newer tablet because I wanted GPS and was having the same random connection problems. Some times it works fine and other times I have to fight with it. I connect by Bluetooth and your blue tooth adapter. So is there a fix or is the fix to use a older version?

Thanks

I Reverted back 1.5.0 and is working better.
Only thing that seems to be happening sometimes is when I start to log shadowdash crashes and closes. I reopen it and its fine.

I just got started using Shadow Dash.

I have it running on a Fire 7 tablet, and I have an EFI analytics battery powered bluetooth connector. My car is a 914 running microsquirt.

I have the microsquirt and the bluetooth dongle in the trunk. I was having intermittent connectivity connecting, then losing connection, then connecting again. I set up my tablet to log whenever it connected and put it in the trunk with the dongle, hoping that that would help. I went for a drive and when I came back I had 3 mintue long logs of the car starting up.

Shouldn't the bluetooth connect from the trunk? I'd like to be able to see the guages!

Why is it stopping after a minute?

I just tried to upload one of my logs, and it says the file size is too large...for one minute...?

Thanks!

It sounds like SD may not have the right ini file.

As this is unrelated to this thread, Can you start a new thread. If the log is too large, email it to support <at> efianalytics. com
