How do my plugs look?

Post by 5.3LS10 »

Hey everyone. Because of the issues I am having with my other engine I decided to pull the plugs out of another project car I had built. Basically stock low conpression 5.3l LS with ls2 cam and ls6 intake. Just curious what you guys think of plug color.

Thanks
Shane

Haha thanks David!. I just wanted to make sure I am still learning. That car does pull like crazy so I figured the tune had to be pretty close to ideal.

In a 89 foxbody with a t56 and street tires it runs the quarter in the 12.7x range at about 113-114 mph.

Even with over a 2.0 second 60' ! Only issue is above 6500rpm every now and then it sucks a bunch of oil in from the pcv system and blows smoke like crazy.

Ah, I thought it was the 86 Cutlass you were working on, how many cars do you have?

On 93 octane and street tires with a 2.33 60 foot I pulled out a 13.13 at 109.87.

You can tell by the mph vs et and 60 foot I can't launch the car, just roll out then stab it.

I have since changed the transmission, first gear is now 3.50 to 1 vs 2.95 to 1.

2nd and 3rd are both lower as well but not as much as 1st.

Of course this is not a drag car by no means but it is quick and gets 19 to 21 mpg town and 25 to 27 hwy.

I checked mileage on a tank of fuel (11 gallon tank) hammer down for the most part and still got 16.5 mpg. :D

Haha this is about my buddies car not the cutlass. Die hard ford guy and convinced him to do a LS swap :yeah!: ... but I think it was he wanted to do a 6 speed manual and to do one behind a SBF or modular was VERY expensive.

I have a crack in one of the welds on my rear end so I need to fix that. Wideband also will not be delivered until Friday. I am hoping by Saturday or Sunday I should have the new wideband installed and reweld the brackets and hopefully not run out of fuel pump...

I would maybe try a plug one heat range colder. Your 3-4 threads discolored and the goal is 2
