Hi all,
Managed to get my car starting consistently with the diypnp I built, but now I'm on to tuning I'm experiencing some confusing problems.
Here's a little background on the car:
It's a turbocharged smallport 4age running on the stock toyota esa distributor.
I'm using NE, G2 and G- for trigger signals.
Stock setup for ignition and fuel.
Innovate wideband wired in.
My problem:
With my current trigger angle of 160 I get consistent starting but when I checked it with a timing light it was wayyyyy off the scale and the idle afr's are way too rich (high 9's to low 10's).
Also when I set my fixed timing to 10 the car refuses to start and i must increase it to about 15-17 and give it gas to start and not cut out.
The car cannot be held like this as the temperature spikes rapidly, I assume this is a result of retarded timing and the excessive gas required to start the car and keep it alive with this timing.
I've tried adjusting my trigger angle and my problem is the car won't start at all with any of the others I've tried , at some angles I don't even get a trigger signal in tunerstudio
What do you guys think?
Daniel.

Re: tuning question
What trigger angle setting makes the timing you see with a timing light match the timing you see in TunerStudio?
