Dead time measured, Delphi 95 lb/hr low z

Post by 9secz »

I finally have the chance to give something back to this board. I used my MS3 and Tunerstudio together with a VersaFueler and my injector flow bench to measure injector dead time for Delphi's 95 lb/hr low impedance injector. I followed the lead of this youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJgi8l-2XG4. Next I will be testing Lucas 120 lb/hr low impedance.

Here is a pic of the test setup and an Excel screen shot showing the raw data and calculated dead times. If you'd like me to measure your injectors, send me a PM with your contact details.

Thanks! This 4th order eq gives a reasonable curve fit:

y = 0.0002490398117·x4 - 0.01482719588·x3 + 0.3239904858·x2 - 3.163577576·x + 12.41638622

The 13.2 volt dead time is 0.57 ms.

would the 120# be the one trickflow sell as pn. 89120. if so im very interested. by trial and error i come up with around .65ms. voltage slope is way off though.

Can't you cheat it by switching from 2 squirts to 4 squirts and watch the Idle AFR? or some such...
Correctly identify your MS ecu here
Read the Do's and Don'ts to avoid the common pitfalls before starting your install or asking for help
Use only these manuals other manuals may cause brain damage or worse.

I've never seen Trickflow injectors. Mine are made by Lucas.

Here is the raw data and calculated dead time versus voltage for Lucas 120s:

Image

Good curve fit eq:

y = 0.0001912278744 x4 - 0.01164420921 x3 + 0.2580019471 x2 - 2.556672106 x + 10.57121078

13.2 volt dead time is 0.80 ms.

BTW, don't nag about significant digits on the curve fit! It's just a copy paste from the algorithm. :D

thats really nice of you to do, thanks. btw use the data not the chart? i guestimater about a .7 dead time on my car using 2-4 squirts.
