Injector Characteristics

Post by TURBOMUSTANG »

I have resently got my car back from a so called tuner and had a few questions about setting up the injector characteristics. The car is running ok but i dont think this guy had a clue what he was doing. First should bank 1 and bank 2 match ? The car that is getting tuned is a sbf 306 boss block with a presicion 70mm turbo 9psi with 42 lbs injectors with hci. MegaSquirt-II V3.57
bank 1
injector open time(ms) 1.00
Battery Voltage Correction(ms/v) 0.200
PWM Current Limit(%) 75
PWM Time Threshold(ms 25.6
injector PWM Period(us)66
bank 2
injector open time(ms) 1.00
Battery Voltage Correction(ms/v) 0.200
PWM Current Limit(%) 50
PWM Time Threshold(ms) 1.0
injector PWM Period(us)66

Does this seem right?

Are the injector high impedance (about 10-14 ohms) or low impedance (about 2.5 ohms) ?

The settings certainly don't look correct for a normal install where four injectors are on one channel and another four injectors of the same type are on the other channel.

I think they are high indepenance but when i get home i am going to run the part number . I think they are the Delphi 42 lb/hr EV1 Style Fuel Injector - Hi-Z

If these are the ford Green top 42lb injectors they are high impedance ( 14ohms )
PN XL3VA5A 0280150558

.7628 injector dead time
PWM Current Limit 100%

I have these injectors and have good results tuning with these settings.

PWM time set to 25.5ms too.

They are high independance injectors dephi part number 01d030b 42 lbs injectors. What would you guys recomend me setting the values too? I feel the more I look at the tune, i find more errors.

Should bank one and two be set to the same limits?

As you have 8 identical injectors hooked up (4 to each bank) then YES they should be the same settings. 100% PWM duty and 25.5ms PWM time.

(They would only be different if you were using "Staged injection" and had say hi-z injectors on one bank and low-z on the other. You aren't doing this though.)

finding errors from tuner

Post by TURBOMUSTANG »

After getting my car back from a so called tuner i am finding a lot of errors. What i am trying to tune is a sbf 306 boss block 9.1 cr with forged bottom end, ported gt40x aluminum heads, f cam full aermotove fuel system 42 lbs dephi high independance injectors bg custom turbo kit with precision 67mm turbo and other bolt ons. this is one of the first things that i found that looked as it need correction. The car is running decent but i dont feel the tuner knew what he was doing.

MegaSquirt-II V3.57
bank 1
injector open time(ms) 1.00
Battery Voltage Correction(ms/v) 0.200
PWM Current Limit(%) 75
PWM Time Threshold(ms 25.6
injector PWM Period(us)66
bank 2
injector open time(ms) 1.00
Battery Voltage Correction(ms/v) 0.200
PWM Current Limit(%) 50
PWM Time Threshold(ms) 1.0
injector PWM Period(us)66

Does this seem right?

thanks for the help Justin

Is there some kind of chart where you can find right injector dead time?

I have 91 Mustang gt with trick flow HCI + vortech. I have these kind of injectors: TREperformance Flow Matched 42 LB/HR EV1 fuel injectors

Flow Rate in CC per minute: 440 CC/min @ 43.5 PSI
Flow Rate in LB per hour: 42 LBS/HR @ 43.5 PSI
Resistance: 12 ohms (High Impedance, High Resistance)
Voltage: 8-15 Volts, nominal 13.5 Volts
Amperage: 1.0 Amps
Pressure: Min 30 PSIG / Max 100 PSIG
Spacers/O-rings Included: YES, on the injectors
Injector Body Design: Metal and composite plastic
Fuel Delivery: Upgraded Four-hole disc fuel delivery nozzle for superior fuel atomization
Electrical connector type: EV1 (Minitimer, Jetronic)
Overall Length: 2 7/8 inches, 74 mm
O-ring to O-ring Length: 2 1/2 inches, 63 mm
Diameter: 16 mm
Orings: Top and bottom, 14.5 mm

Also now I have 4 sqruits per rev. Would 2 be beter? It drinks quite bit more fuel than before without vortech and with stock ecu and chip + trick flow. Also driveability isn't so good.

I'm total novice in tuning and dyno tuner made program for me.

MegaSquirtPNP G2 Ford Mustang 5.0 86-93
bank 1
injector dead time 1.000ms
battery voltage correction (ms/v) 0.200

I have tunerstudio ms lite! v2.6.19

There is really no shortcut to actually flowing the injectors with your fuel pressure and driver circuitry. Post the MSQ and an MSL file, you will get more comments. Starting a new thread may help, too.
