Injector dead time calculator

Post by subwoofer »

This is my take on a dead time calculator. Fill in the blue fields, and the spreadsheet will calculate flow rate and dead time for you. No other manual steps required.

If you have a guesstimate of the injector parameters the spreadsheet will calculate the number of squirts required to fill the measuring cylinder 90% full for each pulse width - saves on overshooting the maximum measurable volume and having to run tests multiple times while still ensuring a fill ratio that provides good accuracy.

Enjoy!

Could you add some scree shots of how you set this up in tuner studio. I bet this could be used by people willing to build a test flow bench.

Way cool

I could post some screen shots, but not tonight...

Everything you need is in the "CAN bus/Testmodes"=>"Output test mode" dialog.

Set:
"Fuel pump" to "On"
"Test mode" to "Injectors"
"Injector testing mode" to "Single"
"Injector channel to test" to the channel the injector under test is connected to
and "Output interval", "Pulsewidth" and "Total number of injections" to the values indicated in the spreadsheet for each test.

The procedure is shown in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJgi8l-2XG4

Things like that spreadsheet need to be hosted somewhere off the forum and linked to. The attachments get pruned after a while to make space for more recent ones due to the limited amount of storage space available.

Hopefully the OP will see that and post a link.
