VSS setup question

Post by arnold1 »

Anyone out there that can point me in the correct direction on how to get the TS speedo working?? I tried "Digital", "PT2 Cam in" and "4000 pulses per mile". Also tried CANPWMin, didn’t help at all.

Thanks to all the people that tried to help me solve my problem, actually no one tried to help, so as usual I helped myself and got things working.

I suspect nobody chimed in was that you'd stumped everyone. It definitely sounded like everything was set up correctly from your description and the settings you spelled out, so that probably kept anyone from having a crack at it unless they had direct experience with this particular setup - which, evidently, nobody did. Would you mind posting what the problem turned out to be in case this one surfaces again? I know, that may be a bit to ask if you're upset nobody replied - but it would at least prevent somebody else asking that same question in the future from being greeted with the same perplexed silence.

Matt, you are so right about me being astonished and somewhat upset that nobody could give not even a small clue as to what was wrong. I's not only this thread but the one on the MLV forum where no one has replied either. Am I asking such very hard to answer questions. If I knew the answer I would certainly not ask for help.
The solution was actually very easy even though it took quite a while to get there. On the left hand side of the MLV you see the so called Quick Views for the graphs. Since I was looking for SPEED I choose speed. Then I tried KMH, MPH, well that was all wrong, I should have chosen VSS1, why in Gods name would I want to choose VSS1 when I'm looking for speed??? If your looking for HP, that wont work either, you have to choose Power. TQ wont work, you have to choose Torque. Glad someone removed HP KMH and HP MPH and some other stuff which isn't needed and just confuses the users.

Your initial question wasn't clear at all and you didn't post a datalog.

Who exactly are you annoyed at for not answering?

VSS is standard car lingo for vehicle speed sensor and is already used within the firmware settings.
For example, the setting screen says "VSS1 input type".

You'd need to ask Phil about why the speed, torque etc. fields are listed. They are not put there by the Megasquirt firmware.

Wow, now I have both moderators involved, wasn't really my intension. James, you are right I didn't post the datalog. Didn't know it was important since I didn't even see speed on TS so why send a log. I'm doing my best to learn, but James, why didn't you tell me you needed the datalog to tell me what’s wrong??
I never said I was annoyed, I wrote I was astonished and somewhat upset. I'm a newbie and will never have the knowledge that you guys have pertaining MS.
I know what VSS means, never knew it meant speed. Every day you learn something new..

Because I was on holiday without internet access.

Thanks, yes this is the page that helped me set up my speed/gear. As I stated above I have things running real good now. The only thing HP and TQ are showing me all kinds of values. Look here: http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewtopic ... 00&t=53930
