Post by dilwig »

I'm in need of a Base Map for a Triumph TR6. Can anyone help??

Using Meg II v.3 with MPI. In the process of converting old Petrol Injection Throttle Bodies to EFI.

My experience of trying other's maps for my Rover V8 is don't bother. It's easier in the end to start afresh. Once you've done that and got it running reasonably well, by all means compare other's maps to yours. Assuming you've installed the hardware correctly, it doesn't take long to get an engine started and running reasonably well starting from the base map.

I agree.

The times when sharing an existing tune could be useful is on exactly the same engine with totally stock sensors. e.g. a Miata to another Miata.

Once you are into the realms of custom installs on converted engines, there are way too many parameters that will be different. e.g. toothed wheel parameters, number of coils, injector size - just for starters. Just copying these settings from someone else without understanding what they mean will likely be more confusing than reading the manual and tooltips for each setting and plugging in your own settings.

Snag is there are MS suppliers who claim to be able to supply a suitable map for a DIY installation on most common engines. Which might well be a good starting point for an experienced MS installer. Who can spot any obvious 'gotchas' in that map easily. But if not experienced with MS, the tendency is to look for other reasons why it won't run. As the map was fine on another similar engine. I've seen just this several times.
