[(RPMXMAP)/100] X Duty Cycle

Post by Rick Finsta »

So if we are getting a nice straight line when plotting this out (I just watched the DIYAutotune megameet videos) does this generally indicate that our fuel injectors are properly characterized, or is more of a general "your tune isn't out in left field" situation? Will properly characterized injectors give a straighter line, or a thinner line (less variation)?

Thought it might be nice to talk a bit about because it was an eye-opener for me.

see http://www.nbs-stl.com/tuning/ for more information.

If you see something similar to http://www.nbs-stl.com/tuning/graph29.png

Looking in the lower left corner of that plot, it is an indication that the opening time for the injectors is not set correctly.

If the curve / line is fairly tight but not real straight. it is an indication that at some air flow rates, your intake has some dips/peaks in efficiency. Normally, if you have the 3rd axis as VE or GVE, you will also see a matching change in VE at that point in the air flow.

Hope this helps and have fun tuning.

THANKS! I don't have my high RPM and load stuff tuned yet (since some clownshoes contractor has had a 4'x2' ditch at the end of my driveway for two weeks... ) but I think mine is pretty much looking okay for just starting out:

Making sure my injector numbers are good to go was my top priority before I started tuning further and that is a huge confidence booster for me to see it is lining up alright.
