CORRECT dwell settings?
What are the CORRECT dwell settings for a small block Chevy?
One article says minimum for HEI4, another says to use dwell settings, WHICH ONE IS IT?

Re: CORRECT dwell settings?
"Minimal for HEI4" should be used when a 4 pin HEI module is controlling the dwell. And at no other time.

7-8 pin HEI. The DIYAutotune site says to use minimal for HEI4 setting, doesn't clarify which HEI module however.

MSD Blaster, 4 wire coil. HEI 7-8 pin. Running boost with a smaller plug gap. 82-92 sbc.billr wrote:What kind of coil(s)??? The SBC has had many, many different ignition systems over the years... and that is just the stock sytems!

Re: CORRECT dwell settings?
I'm running 2.9ms dwell on my dads 350SBC with an MSD Blaster coil (round cylinder type, not the SS) and a VB921 driver. It has no spark issues, driver doesn't get hot etc...

Re: CORRECT dwell settings?
I'm running 1.4ms so far so good. I do have a plug gap half that of stock though. Was just looking for a good cranking dwell, running dwell, and minimum dwell settings or whatever that last one was.krisr wrote:I'm running 2.9ms dwell on my dads 350SBC with an MSD Blaster coil (round cylinder type, not the SS) and a VB921 driver.
