Injector Dead Time setting in MS3
Hi all,
I'm trying to configure the injector dead time for some factory Ford 39lb injectors with the below info.
Please let me know if it seems correct based on the given info.
I am assuming the min pw in ms is the dead time, and that converting the offset ms to % is correct??

Re: Injector Dead Time setting in MS3
That figure would only be accurate for the test rig used and its injector drivers. Your injector drivers most likely would give different results.
Find the Manuals up top under Quick links: Manuals.

Re: Injector Dead Time setting in MS3
OK well assuming my drivers are close, and I set my fuel pressure at 39.1psig, are the setting i changed in MS more accurate then leaving it default?
i.e. are my assumptions correct?

I agree the drivers are different, but we sure need a curve to start with. When I have a chart like yours, I pick 14v to be 100%, then using the 14v value I divide that into my deadtime points and create my percentage curve
When dialing in the 13.2v bin, find the difference between 13 and 14 and divide by 10, then add 2 of those values to 13

Re: Injector Dead Time setting in MS3
Nathan,
I'm confused, how do I convert the voltage offset in ms into % for MS.
I understand the last sentence and the difference between the 13 and 14 volt is .133 /10 = .0133 * 2 =.0266
Whats the equation to convert the chart into %
Is it a % of a static value like 1ms or a % of the actual listed DeadTime/min PW.
e.g. if a (really crappy) injector had a min PW of 2ms and at 8volts was listed as having a latency/offset of 1.50ms that would be an addional 75% of the original 2ms so it would be 175%?
IF it is a based on the dead time and a percentage of that then my chart is off 30% it would seem.

Re: Injector Dead Time setting in MS3
Sorry I missed the reply this. If using the 14 volt value .904, that becomes your constant. I get confused on which to input first on the calc but try .904/ your 15 volt value. This should be a number less than 100, say .85 or 85%. Then .904 into your 13 volt value, which will be more than 100, maybe 1.27, this is 127%. Do the same for all values using the 14 volt as a constant since its our 100% marker
Edit, input the voltage value first, then the constant of .904

Re: Injector Dead Time setting in MS3
Great , TY I calculated it based on that.
One more question Does the 14v value (.904) become my setting for injector dead time instead of the MinPW .696?
That answered will have me much closer than the default 1.0 ms flat line chart TY!

Re: Injector Dead Time setting in MS3
How much effect on idle stability can be expected with correctly set dead times in MS3 ?

Re: Injector Dead Time setting in MS3
Based on the numbers I have seen it is possible to never get your car to idle correctly because the PW is so short and your dead time is wrong (large injectors), other areas may be way off but you are tuning it out based on AFR.
