Missfire, log ok?

Post by DannyDK »

My car keeps missfiringing between 2800-4000 ish rpm.

Its a BMW 318is with an m42. I used the original wirering from the VR sensor.

60-2 tooth.

Do I need some kind of noise filter?

Thanks!

In your tooth logger you can see that the first tooth after the missing one is long. That means that you are triggering on the wrong edge or that the sensor is wired backwards.
MS3+X on 73 Karmann Ghia ignition only with LS2 truck coils firing in sequential, fuel next.
2333(103*70) Type 4 with DTM also sitting in living room just need exhaust.

Agreed, that glitch in the tooth log doesn't look good, but the run log posted has no sync loss. What grabbed my attention was the long injector pulses, DC was up at 173% ! Post a tune file (.msq)

Triggering on the wrong edge?

I did buy a PNP box from http://www.k-data.org/kdfi-pnp-bmw-m42.html

Had a local guy help and try to set up the basic map but the car wouldent run on all 4 cylinders between 2800-4000 rpm.

So we ran out of time, and he told me to try grund my crank signal cable diffrent places -but no luck there.

So the car drove perfectly into the garage but not out, thats why I think there is a setup problem, maybe with noise?

It is a VR sensor.

The K-Data is an unlicensed MegaSquirt counterfeit and not supported on this forum.

You could see if you could get your money back from K-Data for selling a misrepresented product.
