ramcharging and ignition timing

Post by Yves »

I did some WOT runs at around my best torquepoint. Turns out the engine has a VE of 106.7% at that point, effectively raising my static compression ration, which is already a healthy 10.63/1. Would this necessitate pulling some timing at that point ?

What is your timing and rpm at this point. Unless you are having some symptoms of knock or another problem the timing should be fine.
My compression ratio is 11.7 to 1. I am running 36 degrees advanced from 2900 rpm to 8000 rpm at wide open throttle. my peak torque (4600 rpm) has a ve value 110.1 and an afr of 12.8, my ve at wide open throttle and 7500 rpms is 107.2 with an afr of 12.7.
I am not seeing any bad symptoms. Next time I go to the track I am going to make a couple of runs to set a baseline, then I am going to try to add more timing to see if my mile per hour improves, if it falls off then I will back the timing off to my starting point.
