5.3 base tune help

Post by RGNHD »

I just got my 5.3 running in my s13 240sx. It's running on just default settings currently. All that is done to the motor is LS1 intake. Everything else is stock motor wise.
Where's the first place I need to start with my tune?
I am just running a MAP sensor and TPS <- drive by cable.
Attached is my datalog from idling the motor and giving a couple throttle taps.

No CLT or IAT? Lord help you.

That aside, your cranking RPM is set too high, try 200RPM.

Thanks I will try that cranking RPM.
I'm not planning on running IAT as this is a race car and not a daily driver. Wasn't something I felt was needed
But I'm not sure what you refer to for CLT?

Is your wideband wired up? It's dead lean the whole time. You have a resync loss, not sure what that means but it's ls1 specific

You show coolant so your good

I'd suggest an air temp sensor, take full advantage of the corrections efi can have. As underhood temps rise the tune will go fat, with a good air temp correction curve, you'll stay spot on for every pass

And your alternator is not charging

You should also post your msq

My wideband is indeed wired up. But I think I need to calibrate the sensor and I though in the 10's was pig rich?
My alternator is not hooked up yet. And my MSQ is now uploaded.
Thanks for the suggestion of the AIT. I just have to tap my intake to put one in I'll try and get that done this week.
I plan on working on most of the tuning today to get the car somewhat driveable.

What sort of wideband are you using, and how have you set it up under Tools -> Calibrate AFR Table?

I'm using a Innovative Wideband. And when I attempt to go to Tools and Calibrate AFR Table it's greyed out and doesn't allow me to modify the settings.

Got it... I have a Innovative LC-2 I have the signal wire split. One way to the Megasquirt and the other to the sensor.
