did the car run before this?
Then the vr1 wire is ok.
How did you connect vr2 wires?

If you use 2 ignition output you have to run wasted spark..not cop.

do you have some drawing about how you wire things.

So basically I decided to wire up an EDIS 4 to use the COPs on the 4age. I wired everything up according to the manual but left the PIP and SAW signals unshielded just for the test. It didnt seem to want to fire. The VR sensor is wired to the IGT and NE signal on my ECU and is shielded. The COP signal wires are wired 1 & 4 to pin 10 on the EDIS and 2 & 3 to 12. Would the system not fire because the PIP and SAW are not shielded? Also how do I check to see if the crank wheel is being detected by the VR in the composite logger? I set it to toothed wheel but only see changes in the IGN1 and MAP areas. Sorry to revive an old thread but I've been busy with suspension work. Any thoughts are appreciated!!! Thanks.

Bump, so I have pin 1 on the coil packs wired to the same 12v as the EDIS. Both COPS and EDIS are wired to the same ground. Then the COPs third pin wired to EDIS 10 and 12 pins for the signal. Would I be better off wiring the signal pins for the COPs directly to the ECU? Tuner studio syncs and I get the green light but no spark even in the diagnostic mode.

EDIS is designed to control the Ford coilpack. It is not designed to control coil-on-plug coils and operation may be unexpected.

So either use the complete EDIS system or eliminate it and have the ECU take full control.

Thanks for responding, I kinda had an idea that this was the issue. Can you have the ECU run full control and run off of a crank trigger wheel as well? If so would I connect the one of the VR sensor wires to the NE pin on the ECU? And the other wire to? Then basically just run the signal wires from the cops to the ECU expansion pinout?

I guess my question would be if I were to setup the COPs like I had before but instead of using the distributor as a crank angle sensor in dual wheel mode, could I use my 36-1 crank wheel with a VR sensor instead? The VR sensor I have has two wires coming out the pigtail so I'd imagine one would go into my NE ECU pin to replace the crank sensor in the distributor but I don't know what to do with the other wire or If I would need something in between them like the EDIS system. I have tried searching for people using crank wheels for COPs instead but can't really find much. Any help would be appreciated!!

From your MSQ, it seems that you are using an MS2 based plug and play ECU. You'll need to consult your documentation or talk to your supplier to see what wiring options are available, I'm not familiar with it.

I talked to Phil at diyautotune and he said it is fully capable of what I am trying to do. I am still waiting on him to respond but I think I need to use their hall effect sensor to get it to work since it has three wires instead of ford's two wire sensor meant for EDIS. Still just unsure as where to wire the sensor into the ECU but I am fairly certain it is the NE pin. Will update when I have more information. Thanks for your responses.
