Thanks. Can we get the current .msq posted up? The last one I saw was set for Basic Trigger ...

sorry here you go.
Re: 4AGE Coil Over Pack (COP) Conversion Settings
You've got it set for 'Wasted COP'; it should be set to 'Wasted Spark.' It should't be a deal breaker, but it isn't right and might be confusing things.

Re: 4AGE Coil Over Pack (COP) Conversion Settings
Ive tried both settings and still no rpm signal..i think the ecu isnt reading the distributor as a cam signal.
Re: 4AGE Coil Over Pack (COP) Conversion Settings
Do you have the correct sensor wired to the right input? That is, is the 4-tooth wheel hooked up to VR1? If it's hooked up to VR2, it's not going to work.

Re: 4AGE Coil Over Pack (COP) Conversion Settings
How do I know which is VR1 and VR2?
Re: 4AGE Coil Over Pack (COP) Conversion Settings
It should be labeled.

Re: 4AGE Coil Over Pack (COP) Conversion Settings
well looks like you are right and my distributor wont work. I will try to find an EDIS 4 setup. I went to the junk yard today but couldn't find any. I found a few ford taurus's but couldn't find the EDIS 4 module as directed in the manual. I saw that they had a VR sensor and a toothed wheel though. I will try another bone yard next week.

Re: 4AGE Coil Over Pack (COP) Conversion Settings
Use the later model 20V distributor. They're known to work well. Granted, a crank mounted trigger wheel is superior but the 20V CAS is much simpler to install and configure.aukword1 wrote:well looks like you are right and my distributor wont work. Re: 4AGE Coil Over Pack (COP) Conversion Settings
do you happen to know if the 20v will fit in the 16v? or if autozone/o'reily's would sell it?

Re: 4AGE Coil Over Pack (COP) Conversion Settings
I had to double check but it looks like it's a 20V only fitment. Sorry for the misinformation.

Re: 4AGE Coil Over Pack (COP) Conversion Settings
No worries, I went to the junkyard today and got an EDIS4. I had to get the VR sensor off an EDIS6 but it looks like it should work. Will probably try to install it next weekend.

Re: 4AGE Coil Over Pack (COP) Conversion Settings
The JDM 16V distributors have 24/2 wheel. If you get later model smallport 4age engines then these may also have this distributor.
However it sounds like you don't have it wired correctly (VR1 +- VR2) and if appropriate the relevant board jumpering.
If it was, then we would see the 4/1 teeth in the tooth logger.
Troubleshooting VR setups is a real pita and as this is all new for you (not a bad thing! welcome! ) I agree that EDIS is probably an easier way to go.
Keep at it, won't be long.

Re: 4AGE Coil Over Pack (COP) Conversion Settings
Ummm ... Point of order? If the OP is planning to install and run an EDIS module, then he MUST have (or is willing to install) a 36-1 crank wheel. If there is (or can be) a 36-1 crank wheel, why the dancing around with a 4/1 dizzy?

Re: 4AGE Coil Over Pack (COP) Conversion Settings
Personally I like the 24/2 dizzy's, but whatever. Clean installation, no custom stuff... but found MS3X best. MS2 was okay with LM1815 circuits.
Looks like can get a trigger wheel for EDIS here:
https://technotoytuning.com/toyota/16v4 ... gger-wheel
Looks like need to use their crank pulley as well.
No mention of a trigger mount.

Re: 4AGE Coil Over Pack (COP) Conversion Settings
Yeah that's where I was gonna order the trigger wheel from, I wanted to do the 4/1 dizzy because I already had it. I'd prefer the 24/2 dizzy but it seems hard to find right now. I will keep trying the 4/1 dizzy until the trigger wheel and crank pulley come in though. I haven't given up yet and made some sort of breakthrough last night with the rpm signal. At least if I can't get the 4/1 to work then I have a backup EDIS system to try. Will keep you guys updated.
Re: 4AGE Coil Over Pack (COP) Conversion Settings
Update*
I almost got the car started on a wasted cop setting(it had a small ignite in the cylinders) with my igniter still hooked up (but unplugged from the distributor) to send the rpm signal to the ECU. I believe my tooth #1 degree is off and that is why it didn't fully start. I will print out a degree wheel to attach to the crank and degree the distributor teeth according to the megasquirt manual. I will update with my results. Thank you all for your help!
