(autotune) Feature suggestion

Post by Marek »

Would it be sensible to allow users to have more flexibility when a car is to run closed loop or when a car should employ autotune?

For example, if it were possible to include a loop condition as part of whether a car autotunes itself when running, then the user could set up their own error conditions to let it autotune, except when those conditions were met, e.g. a missfire detected because for example EGTs drop, or some similar non-fatal error which might result in poor over correction for something which may not want to be corrected for. Put another way, it'd be a more flexible filter for closed loop or autotune.

I would think it is the operator's job to detect misfire, stop autotune, correct the issue, then autotune again.

On a v12, you can't tell whether it's running on 11 cylinders versus 12 from the driver's seat, but you can see in real time on the laptop that one cylinder's EGT drops away and comes back. It isn't practical to stop on a motorway to investigate an intermittent fault but the rest of the data may be good and very usable for tuning.

If running autotune or closed loop, it'd tune or fuel it wrongly if it were to attempt to correct in real time.

The "operator" is busy driving the car and may not be able to do two jobs at once.

Have you seen the "custom filter" for VEAL? Do you just want more of that, so that several more conditions can be specified?
