MSDroid 0.3a0 Change Log

Post by scudderfish »

Here's the list of what's new and improved in the latest version of MSDroid :-
  • Added log size in the "View logs" activity.
  • Added auto-connect option in preferences to automatically connect to the last known ECU on app startup.
  • Added a "lock dashboard orientation" option in preferences to lock the dashboard in a specific orientation.
  • Added a "Prevent sleep mode" option in preferences.
  • Added a "Disconnect from ECU" option from the main menu.
  • Added option to convert a datalog to .msl format before emailing.
  • Added a splash screen presenting the app and developers.
  • Fixed hanging at "Reading page 0" for MS3 firmwares that don't support CRC32 validated protocol (Older then 1.1).
  • Fixed newly added ini not being picked up by the app (Fix "no matching ini found" when you just added it).
  • Fixed the delete log option in the "View logs" activity not working.
  • Fixed crash when the last used ini couldn't be found.
  • Fixed various file descriptors and resource leaks.
  • Fixed menu in tuning section that were duplicated under specific conditions.
  • Enhancement: Logging menu now reflect logging state (Start logging when not logging, Stop loggging otherwise).
  • Enhancement: Sort source names in widget settings alphabetically to make finding the source you're looking for much easier.
  • Enhancement: Sort available series in datalog graph settings alphabetically for same reason as above.
  • Enhancement: Overwrite debug log when it gets too big (> 5MB).
Now there are three of us working on it, there should be more activity and we're aiming for a regular release cycle. We're also keen on all feedback, so if there is a bug that's annoying you or a feature you think we're missing, shout it out!

Regards,
Dave

Hi Dave,
App is getting better.
Couple of things I've noticed
1. I'm using MS1 Hires and when I go into the Tuning page and then into the VE Table it bombs out of the App. Haven't tried any other options yet
2. I can view O2 voltage but still no lambda option on the view menu

Many thanks

Unfortunately a bit of an 'oopsie' happened. We'll be putting a revised .apk on Play shortly. Sorry about that. :D

When it does go 'oops', can you press the report button, and mention msextra.com in the comment? That way the crash report will come to us via Google and we'll have a fighting chance of locating where the problem is.

Dave

It has been quite a bit of work organising ourselves as a team working on this and Dave and Seb have already done a brilliant job of cleaning things up and fixing issues. So there are bound to be teething issues and a few wobblies.

Anyway I've now pushed 0.3a1 to Play, which should be live in a few hours hopefully. The fixes are:

# Fixed problem with loading ECU definition.
# Fixed problem with emailing of log attachments.

Hi matnrach,

Your first issue is already fixed and will be in the next version. For your second point, are you saying that you don't see "Lambda" when trying to select a source for a gauge?

Thank you for pointing those issues to us, very appreciated!

Admittedly I'm running MS1Extra 29y, not HiRes, but there isn't any significant difference in the INI files between them to do with lambda gauges. When I edit a gauge I see Lambda and Lambda2 as options....

Weird, it's there for us... I did change the order of the gauges so they are sorted in alphabetical order now (in the version you're currently using). Any chance you were'nt aware of that ? Not sure what else it could be at this point :/

Ah, are you comparing this to MegaLogViewer? MLV calculates it and adds it in, it doesn't read it directly from the log as the INI file doesn't specify it as a logged value.

Well then Lambda is not a data logged field in MS1 hires so that's probably why its not there :)

In a near future, we plan to support custom.ini which could add a Lambda data log field. In your case, custom.ini or not doesn't really matter as MS1 is not actively developed anymore, so you can just add a lambda data log field into whatever ini you're using to connect.

EDIT: Dave beat me to it again, geez :/

Seems as though that is the answer.
Sorry for my ignorance but how do I add it to the ini file?

Caveat, I haven't tried this myself but....

1. Take a copy of your INI file

2. Find the [Datalog] section at the end.

3. Add a line that looks like :-

entry = lambda, "Lamdba", float, "%.2f"

This is basically saying take the lambda value, label it as "Lambda", it's a floating point value, and it will be logged to 2 decimal places.

4. Drop the modified INI file into the MSDroid INI directory

5. Generate some new logs :)
