MSDroid and Cubieboard2 4.2.2

Post by lukep6470 »

Hi,

I bought one of those Android based media players that happens to have an Allwinner A20 based board in it. I've managed to get cubuntu and the Cubiboard Android 4.2.2 distro up and running on an SD card on it.

Has anyone got MSdroid up and running on a cubieboard2?

The Android distro doesn't have Bluetooth or USB host configured. I've rooted Android and still USB host diagnostics can't get the FTDI serial to USB cable up and running.

I'm keen to get this working as it is displaying well through the composite input to my car stereo.

Did you try USB Host Check from the play store?

Yep it doesn't detect anything. I'm expecting a custom kernel is required.

OK I've had a bit of a breakthrough. It turns out the USP port I was plugging the FTDI into was faulty. As soon as I plugged it into the port I had the keyboard was in I got a popup asking what app to use with it :yeah!:

I will test it in the car tomorrow night after the cyclone passes.

So I got a chance to try it out tonight. It handshakes with the microsquirt and crashed out straight away.

I didn't think it looked right as it starts with just a white screen with no gauges. Maybe there is a software dependency missing from this android distro.

Has anyone else seen this? It is v2.3r0 running on Kernel 3.3.0+

Does MSDroid get as far as detecting the ECU and setting up a project for it? If so that's encouraging.

I will check the automated crash reports I get to see if I can correlate any with your Cubieboard. I may need a few days to get around to this so please nudge me if you hear nothing in a few days.
