MS Droid and WiFi connection - cannot get tune from ecu
Hi,
I've been interested in getting MS Droid to connect to my MS3 over WiFi for a few years.
I have a WiFi to serial converter connected to the ECU right now, and ma running MS Droid both on my phone and a Car Stereo. Both are running MSDroid 2.4R4.
I seem to be able to connect to the ECU from both devices but I can't work out what to do with the ECU definition.
I am using Firmware version 1.3.4 for MS3, and will probably be changing to 1.4 at some stage.
I have tried taking a copy of the demo project folder from SDCard/MSDroid/projects, renaming it somethig (RX7wifi). I put the latest MS3 ini file from my Windows laptop in that dirctory. I open the project and try to connect. Didn't work. I renamed the ini to MS3.ini, no good.
I also put the file into SDCard/MSDroid/ini without luck.
I also disconnected from the access point and reconnected to the main WiFi with internet connection and attempted to download a definition file, no luck.
I am close to getting this to work, is anybody out there successfully using WiFi to connect?
Arran

Re: MS Droid and WiFi connection
I changed the Wifi Serial adapter baud rate to 115200 (it was on 9600) and now i am reading the ECU definition. It is looking for ms3 format 0435.16.
Problem is my laptop only has ms3 format 0435.14, so searching for the updated file now

Re: MS Droid and WiFi connection
Progressed some.
In that dialogue it asked for a retry. I disconnected the adapter access point and connected to my home WiFi again, and selected retry. It went and downloaded the definition file, and then went on to ask me about a project. I said make new project (RX7), and it wen on and parsed the firmware.ini but then bailed on "Can't download tune"

Hello Aran,
I'll be curious about your wifi converter. Where do you source it and what brand it is ?
FYI I do some tests with the ones I build an sold and found a problem with them. this problem only happen on Microsquirt v3 (or maybe older Microsquirt, but i haven't any to test with).
On Microsquirt v3 my wifi converter found the ECU, but when software ask for signature it fails. TunerStudio find a Megasquirt ECU but claim that it have no firmware loaded and need to be flashed.
With the same converter Microsquirt Module and Megasquirt work perfectly. This is what I don't understand here : Microsquirt v3 and Microsquirt Module use the same COM design and parts. I have to check about that.
I also note that Bluetooth converter I sell work fine with Microsquirt v3 (and all other ECU from Megasquirt). This converter use the same design than wifi converter, except the module.
Just to let you know. Please just tell me if your converter is a "brand" or not.
Bests,
Manu

The unit is a Gozens Model: WA-232C
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/RS232-RS-232 ... 417b8f2e3a
It is supposed to accept power form pin 9 (like my Bluetooth dongle) but it does not work. I sent the first one back, and the second one was the same. It powers on fine with the other method which is hoe I was testing it

Re: MS Droid and WiFi connection - cannot get tune from ecu
In both Jérôme's and Arran's case I have a feeling that the WiFi interface is behaving correctly (once the baud rate has been set right, as demonstrated above) and the problem with loading the tune from the ECU is a bug with MSDroid's WiFi driver. The problem is that relatively so very little testing has been done with WiFi as there is little demand for it.
Could you both please send me your debug_log.txt just in case that gives me any clue?
What I ultimately need to do is obtain one of these WiFi interfaces myself. Are you both using the type linked to in the eBay listing above?

Hi Trev,
FIY Tunerstudio and Shadowdash can't connect too. I really think that it's an hardware issue, not software. I'm waiting for some parts to investigate about that and will let you know results.
Best,
Manu
