Are you using a Prolific USB interface? Have you had problems using it with MSDroid 2.4?
If so, could you please install the following alpha bulid:
www.msdroid.com/builds/MSDroid_2_5a0.apk
Please let me know the outcome.
(I'd be grateful if all responses in this thread could be specific to Prolific USB only please.)

Hello,
Having troubles connecting my tablet through OTG cable and Serial to USB adapter Aten uc232a (uses a Prolific 2303 chipset) to MSDroid 2.5a0.
The Android software for serial to usb adapter will detect it once plugged into the tablet, and I can send and receive data from megasquirt, but MSDroid won't connect to megasquirt.

We've discussed this by email but just to provide the info here as well, in case it's useful to anyone else: It appears that although the Aten UC232A uses a Prolific chip (or Prolific clone), it supplies a different PID and VID, which means that the Prolific drivers supplied with MSDroid won't recognise it. I have advised that another adapter be obtained with genuine Prolific or FTDI chip.

I have been trying to connect my Android tablet 4.2.1 onto MSPNP2 without any success. Bought the serial -USB adapter (FDTI chipset) from MS site thinking this would work for my PC as well as tablet as I have a normal USB on side. I now see there is an Android version using micro USB which does not seem to be on the website link. I downloaded the update link above and tried to see if it would work but made no difference.

Do I have the correct adapter and how do I make it work?

Hi benckj,
It might be best if you could email me your debug_log.txt (look in /MSDroid/debuglog/) in the first instance so I can see what's happening.
Have you managed to make it work from your PC using TunerStudio?

Yes, works form my PC using the USB/serial interface without an issue. I generally use a 6' shielded serial cable directly from MS to adapter.
Just noted that the tablet must support a "USB Host" from info below. Not really sure how to check this as I don't work off a Droid very often. Same goes with running the 'debug log' suggested.

To find the debug_log.txt, use a file manager type app to navigate to the MSDroid directory on your Android device and then into the debuglog subdirectory. I have it in the TODO list to add a user friendly means to do this.
In the MSDroid settings have you set the USB interface baud rate as appropriate for your MS?

Thanks for the tips and sorry to thread jack.
I will spend some time and get the info requested.

Not much progress. Found de-bug directory and copied but can't manage to paste into a USB. Notice that the USB Baud Rate in App setting is grey so not active even though I've selected to use USB only I App. Does this mean I do not have an active USB host function? Have only used the USB slot for a keyboard, which worked fine.

No progress on this and would like to use as my laptop battery likes to die while driving.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Go to the PlayStore and download USB Host Check by Taurus Labs.
It will tell you if your tablet is USB Host capable and if not, in some cases can enable it.
Also make sure that your USB to Micro USB adaptor is an OTG model, not a standard one.

Thanks for the tip, will do this over weekend.
I'm running the standard FTDI USB-serial interface as purchased through MS.

Well I downloaded the USB Host check and it came back with message that host support not enabled on my device for android hardware, handheld core or tablet core. A fix attempt tried but no change.
Downloaded another program for USB diagnostics and after check stated no USB host found but device may work if 'rooted'. Tried that but no go. Using droid version 2.6.34.
Guess this mean my tablet cannot use dashboard. Why would a tablet have a USB port if it cannot use or is it just for additional storage?
Getting out of my depth here never had experience with a droid. Even if this tablet cannot host can I connect to MS on Bluetooth?

Looking more like my tablet cannot Host a USB connection which will limit my options. If I decided to go with Bluetooth is there any hidden tricks I should be aware of?
I would have purchased the BT adapter from MS had I known about this Host requirement. Shipping is a killer so I do not want to put another order in. Looking at some generic serial-BT adapters available locally for around $15USD. Worth a go?

Well took a punt and ordered the BT generic adapter as listed in above links. Figured I'd give it a go and ask questions when/if I get into trouble. These MS threads seem rather dead so not sure if anyone is working on this system or not.

Development is still very active but I'm busy with house renovation at the moment. I have to balance keeping the wife happy with keeping you lot happy
The generic Bluetooth interface you ordered is one that I have used a few times successfully. Though it does depend on what specific firmware they have on them.
That PCB presents a 3.3V logic serial interface. The voltage levels are different and are also inverted compared with an external RS232 interface. Therefore it'd need to be wired internally in the MS (Tx / Rx pins direct to the microcontroller).

Just an FYI, MSDroid working perfectly with my profilic USB serial converter. Reports "Using Old Profilic Driver" or similar. Nexus 7 table, works like a champ!
