Need help in Cleveland

Post by Harv »

MSII with EDIS. I've got it to run but not real well. I'm a little over my head.

Yea I guess that would be of some help wouldn't it?

1969 BMW 2002.
2230cc M3 crank, Crower rods, J&E pistons, Schrick 304 cam. 45mm TWM ITB's with 30 lb injectors. EDIS ignition, LC1 WB.

As I said, I have it running but it's not right. (On my iPad now so no msq) also I'm a Mac user and windows is new to me. Still figuring out dataloging. The map I have doesn't look like anything I've seen on line.

Nothing too terrible in the log at first glance.

Posting your msq will be helpful also.

First, a couple sensor readings need fixing.

1. ITB mode uses a combination of throttle and MAP sensor, but it appears the MAP sensor is not plumbed up correctly as it is stuck on 99 kPa. Getting this set will be essential to getting it running. The TPS may not be calibrated.

2. The AFR readings are not working - you'll want to get this reading so people looking at your datalog can see what the fueling is doing.

Thanks for looking. In the last week or so, I have resolved these problems. Updated the firmware to the LC1 and to the latest MSE. I'm getting there. I'll post my tune and data log later.

Well the snow is gone! I've pulled out the 2002 and started in on it again. I'm making good power and drivability but there is a hesitation here and there.

Any ideas?

You might try putting it in a zip file or truncating it with MLV......

That's a composite log, not a regular data log. We will need a regular data log in order to be much help to you.

The one thing that jumped out was that at the point it stalled, it looks like you had a bit too much acceleration enrichment over-fueling it.

Thanks Matt. I was lucky to catch that stall on the log! It happens so rare that I thought it was gone. I went back into my settings and made sure all acc enrichment was off. Maybe this will help to smooth things out?

I had been thinking that some of my problems were in my ignition. I kept wondering why my tooth trigger didn't look like others. Then I realized that my MS doesn't even see my trigger wheel since it's using an EDIS set up. I am using one of your IGN-4 coils instead of the Ford coil. I thought I read that the IGN-4 worked fine with the EDIS module.
