Subaru 4EAT AWD support (Jatco RE4R01A RL4R01A RE4R03A type)

Post by Subaru_EA82_4EAT_AWD »

Hi, I suggested on facebook it may be a good idea to look into Jatco 4EAT transmission support for megashift, they are found in a lot of cars, Nissan, Mazda, Subaru across a lot of models and years. Particularly in my case I would love to see support for the Subaru 4EAT AWD version, possibly known as "R4AX-EL"

I was asked to put up some information about the workings of the transmission here, so I have linked a small section of the FSM (1988 Subaru XT) that covers the electronic control, I can put up any further info if required or wanted, the whole FSM if needed...

http://d01.megashares.com/dl/LspTokB/pd ... %20doc.pdf (too big to attach)

Thanks for looking at it.

I'm sorry if the transmission model codes aren't exactly correct, I got them from here : http://www.transgo.com/products.php?prd ... ntview=Yes
It would be a whole lot easier if the model number was on the case somewhere...

That PDF is enough info for generally controlling the transmission, but more information is needed on the control strategies for sol3 for 3-2 shifting and overrun.

Thankyou very much for looking at it.
I cant seem to find anything else as far as electronic control logic in the FSM, but I could upload the whole thing if you want to have a look through it?

Do you think Megashift will have enough inputs/outputs to control the shifts and the duty C (4wd transfer clutch)?

I did find this (attached wiring diagram) that may be helpful:

I would also like to apologise if I have said 'Megashift' where I shouldn't have here too, I have just realised that there may be two different systems, Megashift and 'Transmission control' I don't quite know the difference, but I am keen to learn, if my inquiry about my Subaru transmission is more apt to a different place on the forum, please let me know and I'll move it!

So it looks like all the stuff provided so far is a phase one transmission. I have some data on the phase 2 transmission also, if anyone cares to make any progress on this.
