All of those variations are do-able probably without too much bother.

I'll have a think about the options and post a screenshot of the menu I come up with.

Now I wish I'd bought the three or five disk lockup.... (only bought a single disc)

I believe I've covered the ideas John presented.

Coded right it could allow nice soft street lockup and full lock harshness on the strip. With the throttle pedal as the mode switch. i.e in this example TPS< 90% is street mode. TPS> 90% is race mode.

Does this look somewhere close?

I like it, looks good. Just like I envisioned.

What convertor did you go with, There aren't a whole lot of choices with a 4l80e.

James,

Any chance for an option to run the input speed sensor through VR2?? I fetch engine speed through CAN and would like a way to calculate TCC slip.

Would be nice to be able to log if TCC is holding during power.

Also with Input speed how about a shift time to log.

My thoughts for a shift-

Read timer
command shift
While (gear ratio not equal to new ratio or not max time )
Read timer

Shift time = diff between both timer values-

Being able to time a shift is a good way to see if a gear is going away.

Just throwing out some personal wants. After a day of tuning the base code is working very well.
No issues at the moment.

thanks for the feedback.
I had been thinking about monitoring the input speed as well. I'll have a look at that one. It is probably worth getting some logs of that before figuring out how to code for the slip monitor.

Tested the code on the nova again last night, if I get into 4th gear, the lockup works, locks and unlocks perfect.

We will probably be on the road testing,and at the dyno next week and then to the track the 10th.

I could post last nights log there is not much but the lockup working and the shifting to high gear.

I'll tell you that when we were on the dyno a while back, we matched the dyno MPH at the gauges on the computer from the Transcontroller. Exactly the same.

-add race mode
-add input shaft speed sensor (edit ini or use TS to enable the new gauge)

I'm presently testing on my car on jack stands. I've found a few new bugs I introduced into the CAN data fetching. Will be fixed shortly.

I found and fixed a nasty bug with CAN passthrough tuning. Also corrected degC temperatures.

I was able to try out the normal lockup on the stands, yes it work. I can't really notice anything until it is fully engaged. The mechanical lockup is noticeable (and the car shakes...)

By setting mph and race lockup %age very low and holding on the brakes I was able to make some tests of the race mode, seems like it works.

The input shaft speed indicator does something on the bench, but my speed sensor isn't hooked up yet.

Tryed the newest code, it works great. Thanks James.

On the Jack stands, tryed out the lock up in third, above the set point (race mode trigger) the lock up will engage, and if you let up on the pedal it releases. But if you stay in it and it also reaches the set point for the next gear the lock thru the gear change works too.

The gear selector in tuner studio indicates 3 gear when in rev., The log also shows reverse as 255 , not -1 small things but I figured you would want to know.

Been out road testing .014-

Input speed looks good.

Finally got around to adding my electric pressure transducer. Pin 29 ADC6.

Reads raw data, need to get conversion to psi worked out.

Didn't test Race Mode. Can log if needed.

James, is there a place that documents basic features and methology? Any support for a "full manual" mode that doesn't need the traditional shifter (like paddles/buttons for simulated manual)? I read the "readme" but it appears that describes how to load code.

There's only limited documentation at the moment. If you download the ini file and setup a MT/TS project you'll hopefully get the idea. Seems to be working ok for those that are using it.

I'm pretty sure that the Microsquirt doesn't have any more spare inputs for paddle shift, but the module or MS2 could.

Hi, reading this thread with interest, picked up a 4L60E yesterday with loom ready to go behind my Northstar V8. Is anyone driving around with this box on a MS2/Microsquirt and can offer a bit of guidance? I'm not looking for a plug and play and I have got MS running fine on a Honda 90 cc with three different fuels so I have some idea what I'm doing :lol: I also have a Jaguar V12 derived 4L80E but it weighs as much as my engine!! Once I have it driving I would like to have paddle shift capability, plus a full auto mode etc etc :RTFM:

ANy comments welcome....

There are acouple guys running these on transmissions, We have one on a 4l80e.

I don't think there will ever be paddleshift on this harware/software combo, but I don't that know for sure.

If anything other than what is already done is needed, I think the GPIO is your only option.

I could help some for your install, but I am not running a 4l60e. only the 4l80e.

I'll say this, once it was up and running I never have one problem using this as a trans controller. Big Thanks to James for the great design, and work!!!

OK, great, that's what I wanted to know - does it work (yes)??

I have both boxes - a 4L60E and a 4L80E and with a bit of work I hope to install the 4L80 behind the bell housing I'm using off the 4L60. I hope that makes sense!!

Cadillac Northstar V8 on Megasquirt Extra, Camaro V6 4L60E (bell housing fits N*, although how long it lasts without upgrade we shall see :o ) also on a MS (not decided which one yet), all in what you would call a Merkur Scorpio but which we call a Scorpio Cosworth (it had a cosworth V6, big brakes, LSD, leather interior).

I'd be interested in the technical details of your conversion, no rush, just gathering data for the big day :D

Now I'm a bit confused - loads of people seem to be running with the GPIO board (found GM4l80E info on there), whereas here I think we are talking about a second megasquirt or perhaps a microsquirt taking data (by CAN) or raw signals from the engine installation. I don't mind which one I use but can anyone suggest a reason for choosing one over the other??
