Trans Manual

Post by jsmcortina »

I've put together a draft of manual for the transmission firmware.
http://www.msextra.com/doc/pdf/Trans_Control-0022.pdf (EDIT)

Please can GPIO users in particular check the wiring table. (I'll make another post about that too.) Do the pins listed correspond to the most common current usage?

Any suggestions and corrections welcomed.

James

For GPIO it looks pretty good. Just a couple things I noticed.

-I know I am using Pin 17 for sensor ground. In most GPIO documentation I found this was the suggested Pin for sensor ground.

-Solenoid B should be PM2 not PM4, looks like it was just a typo.

-For brake sense I run 12v into the suggested circuitry on GPI4 to step down to 5v and then input to AD7. At least that is how I understand it to work. I followed the suggestions as outlined with 4L80E build on my 4r75w for brake sense. http://www.msgpio.com/manuals/mshift/4L80E/4L80.html

-For the 4r70/75w trans using an analog range sensor, I was originally bring this input into AD0. You currently have it on AD5, which works fine for me because I run MS3 engine and CAN to GPIO. Also it is probably helpful for some installs to add an O/D button input if possible like Ford does?? I was going to bring this in on AD1. Obviously the 4l60/80 use the selector position switches for AD0 and AD1. Does selecting 4r70 analog as transmission open these up for selector and O/D inputs? Then keep AD5 for TPS only, if one wanted to install a 4r70/75 into a non-MS engine setup?

I will look through the manual a little more, but this is looking awesome! This is really what was needed for trans control stuff. thanks James!

OK, I've updated the firmware and manual. Hopefully I've taken those suggestions on board. (O/D not yet.)

Hi James,

I think the 3-2 solenoid should be on PT1 for gpio. May need to check it though as I dont use it with the toyota box.

Cheers,
Daniel.
