Re: Toyota A340 control
I used the standard 12v switched solenoids and made some high side drivers with PNP transistors on my GPIO. Someone else will need to let you know how they converted to low side switched solenoids
The selector input circuit in the manual should work fine, though Im not sure anyone has tried it with a Microsquirt.
Yes you should be able to use the MS2 Ver3. I believe that is what "litneon" is using in the posts above. I'm using a GPIO.
Cheers,
Daniel.

Re: Toyota A340 control
Thank you Daniel,
The original solenoid style is grounded by the body and a a single connector for 12v. Late yesterday I found the Rostra 52-9002 solenoid kit are new universal solenoids with the ground and 12v pigtails which, in theory, appears we can add a wire for 12v hot and use the 3 original 12v wires for ground instead.
Is FW and manual available for a MS2 V3 trans control that is like the Micrsquirt FW for trans?

I looked again, didn't know know it was in the same download and uses the same FW.

Re: Toyota A340 control
I've studied my options and have decided to use my extra MS2 laying around and I wanted to make sure I have some stuff strait on the circuit.
Can you please provide the final selector circuit design and where the 2k2 resistor was added to make it work on the MS2? I saw at one point the diodes where removed....litneon wrote:Ok, I've successfully added the 2.2K resistors to my little project board that has all of the logic circuitry built on it.

As far as I can tell, it's the schematic from this post, with the series resistors swapped to 1k. The 2k2 pull-down resistors connect to the A/B/C pins, basically in parallel with the Zener diodes.

Re: Toyota A340 control
I wanted to run the high side circuit by you guys to ensure I've got the right setup.
I left Q2 and Q4 in place and jumpered R39 and R40.
I grabbed a TIP125 I removed to use as the high side solenoid driver.
This is where I want to ensure my circuit is correct and will have no issues later.
I have:
Sol A ground trigger --> 330 Ohm resistor --> to Base leg on TIP125
Collector --> actual solenoid +
Emitter --> to 12 volt +
I've tested on a 2.4 Ohm low impedence injector using a 7 Ohm resistor between Collector and + side injector and seems to work great.
Is there other components to use in the TIP125 circuit for reliability or something I need to correct?
Also, what is Q16 installed for in the trans controller design?
Thanks,
Chris

Re: Toyota A340 control
Hi chris.
You will also need a 12v pull up on the sol A ground trigger to make sure the tip125 turns off.
Cheers
Daniel.

Would I need a 1K Ohm resistor for this? Where would I install it to?

Re: Toyota A340 control
Thank you very much Daniel. I swapped the 330 Ohm with the 1K and added the 1K to 12v and a diode to ground on the solenoid 12v. Next is to work on the selector circuit.

That is correct. I'll try to draw an updated schematic soon. Been crazy busy at work, haven't had a chance to web wrap up my controller project. I drive it every day, but it's just laying on the floor in the truck. Haha!

Thank you David!
During testing on the MS2 V3 selector side tonight, I believe this is the same inverted results David got. I get the following:
Code not modified. Flashed as 1.0.1 came.
5 volts measured on all sel input wires O2, SPR3, and SPR4
0 = Grounded to TCU ground
1 = left open
Same sequence as section 5.3.1 in manual.

Re: Toyota A340 control
Do I really need to change the code or do I just change the sel input wiring to match what it should be?

Re: Toyota A340 control
Just modify the inputs. I did so on the board that I built the logic converter on. I added the pull down resisters to the three 5v output pins that are then wired to the inputs on the MS2. If that makes sense.
The issue I had with the IC input (when that input fried) was probably due to grounding it with no current limiter for an extended period of time. That's just a guess though. I haven't fixed it, as it works just fine the way it is. I just can't "see" reverse or first on my laptop as it is always showing grounded.

Re: Toyota A340 control
I've built up the MS on the bench with the selector circuit on a test breadboard. My car is still at the body shop so I can't measure the selector circuit. Is the selector switch on a340 setup putting out 5 volts when in the selected gear? Is that the reason we need to pull down the selector input?
EDIT: Forgive me for this post. Post #2 mentioned the a340 selector should be supplying 5 volts.

Re: Toyota A340 control
The selector itself normally puts out 12v as standard. Thats why the circuit includes the 5v zener diodes to drop the voltage to 5v.
Cheers,
Daniel
