FEATURE REQ: Trans support ford BTR/LE

Post by jamies »

Hi James

in the next code update, can you include (initial) support for the ford BTR / LE transmissions

sol A sol B

P off off
R on on
N off off
1 on on
2 off on
3 off off
4 on off

TCC operation should will work with the current code settings however its just an on/off sol and not pwm'd
line pressure PWM freq should be fine at the current selection (290hz)

gear selector is analog the centre voltages are shown below with an 0.2v +/- window

P 4.0v
R 3.5v
N 3.0v
D 2.5v
3 2.0v
2 1.5v
1 1.0v

ratio's
1st - 2.39:1
2nd - 1.45:1
3rd - 1.00:1
4th - 0.68:1

if you need more info please let me know

thankyou

I am interested in this as well. A friend is running a BTR box using the OEM controller and I built the MS2 for it.
Always considered going with a MS controller at some stage but BTR information is rather thin. Hence interested.

i have full manual controllers for the BTR's and I have also had mine running with lances code albeit a little buggy initially bue hes fixed the most of it.
they are a high side driven box, if you need a driver module to run it from the ms, let me know!

Hi James, excellent. I would like to know more. If want to take it off line that would be fine.

any movement on any of the BTR stuff? evaluating options with my barra swap, and i'd prefer to megasquirt it if possible, do want to keep the BTR for now at least, manual control is probably fine, but i have a spare MS1 around also, anyway i know the thread is old, just throwing it out there.
Cheers

Hi, digging up an old thread. I spoke to James yesterday.

I'm wanting to control a BTR 4-speed with a megashift I/O board. While not an MS2, I'm wondering what work has been done here and if anyone is using a megashift on such a gearbox?

Thank you,

megashift is no longer in development, unless you are talking about the MS GPIO unit?

james has updated the firmware with BTR support some time ago and i have bench tested it and seems to be fine
however it wont run directly off GPIO or micro, you need to use an interface to run the trans solenoids (high side drivers required)

When I was on the phone the other day, I was away from my desk and could not recall if it had been implemented or not.
The option is there in the pre-1.1 beta code, but I have not yet added any notes to the manual.
jamies,
if you are able to remind us of the final wiring conclusions from your testing I will update the manual for the next beta.

Hi gents,

Almost an entire year ago I posted in this forum. Slow project for me.

I'm wishing to control the BTR 4-speed via the MS GPIO unit. It would appear the option was never addressed for the MSGPIO. Would I be better off using a megasquirt as the firmware has already been completed?

thank you
