Trans Cooler Control

Post by tylerself1 »

Hi, I am using ms3x with a microsquirt transmission controller via CAN. I have the trans temp on my tunerstudio display working properly. How do I go about utilizing trans temp to output control for my trans cooler fan? I do not show any trans output channels under "Output Channel" within Advanced Engine and Programmable On/Off Outputs. Thank you!

How are you bringing in the trans temp value?

I am bringing in the trans temp value via CAN on the microsquirt trans controller (4l80e trans). I do not have any trans temp inputs into the megasquirt fyi.

I've enquired about this. Search my user name in the tranny section and the thread should pop up

I remember that, basically a bit of I/O box functionality is needed for the trans controller. That would be nice.

It can be done as I have done it. First you want to set up Can receiving, then generic sensor, then a programmable output. Wiring a output from your ms3 to the ground coil side of a relay.

How did you get the trans firmware to broadcast standard CAN data?

I did'nt do anything special. I set it up just like it shows above and works. If your talking about those other inputs, then thats thru the Perfect Tuning Can Gauge I have. As it has 3 inputs on the gauge.

The trans code doesn't support sending 11bit broadcast messages and wouldn't be using identifier "7" if it did, so those messages aren't coming from the trans controller.

Then I wonder how this is working? Because I broadcast that generic sensor 7 (trans temp) to my can gauge. And it works perfectly.

I'm also running the perfect tuning gauge and wanted trans temp displayed. Talked with lscutty and he helped setup the canbus stuff and I too get trans temp displayed and it's matching what TS says. I haven't tried it as an output yet but could setup something and datalog it?

Thanks for the replies everyone. So I set up my tunerstudio settings exactly how LSXCutty did and it isn't reporting any data. My trans temp from the microsquirt trans controller shows the correct temp value but sensor 7 shows zero. Hmm....
