BUG report: lockup not linked to MAP for LOAD

Post by kikkegek »

hello,

I found that lockup is only linked tp TPS, but not to MAP, when you choose MAP for LOAD indication in stead of TPS.

I noticed this, because lockup sdhould only engauge at 50% or less TPS and 1500rpm in my settings. I use MAP for load indication at 75kPa MAP which is 75%LOAD the lock up stays engauged.

see attached MSQ for my setup and this link for the LOG file I made.

I assume you are talking about converter lockup. In the past I have controlled converter lockup using MAP on a spare MS output. I must say I wasn't happy with it though, and eventually used a combination of MAP & TPS.

yes converter lockup. it now only uses TPS. I think it should use LOAD or at least have the option to use MAP in stead of TPS, because you can choose TPS or MAP for load indication.

Where do I report these bugs? is this sub-forum the correct place for it?

bump

guys. has this been noticed? a lockup that engages when there is over 50% load can break a converter. So its a bad thing.

can somebody confirm this bug please? and will it be dealth with in next firmware update?

I forgot to upload my logfile.

so heres my logfile from what you can clearly see that TCC is at 70% while MAP is over 50 kPa. And I use MAP for load indication, so over 50 kPa is over 50% load.

It isn't a bug, the code is designed to use TPS, that's why the setting is called "Lockup min TPS".

Thanks James for clearing that up. There is an option though to select MAP for load indication. so could I make a feature request to add "Lockup min MAP" or Lockup min LOAD"?

Probably the best option as a work-around on current code is to wire the MAP signal to the TPS input too, and calibrate it so that around 20 kPa is 0% throttle and 100 kPa is 100% throttle.

Thanks Matt. Ill look into that.

still hope though that it will be a feature that gets into the next firmware, since MAP is a lot easier for LOAD indication for retrofit vehicles that run a carb.

a cheap MAP sensor is $10 and the cheapest TPS kit is $100+ from what I have found
